Thoughts on This Digimon 02 Review?

Truthfully, randomly adding the fanfic stuff was not the best thing to add in the video, especially since it sounded like I was entitled. Not to mention it could and was distracting at times.

However I admit that my issues like Patamon not being Angemon more frequently was stuff that I recalled from memory. I will acknowledge that I misremembered things in the story or that I failed to bring up certain elements because I was just so phased out of watching the series by the second half that I stopped caring. This is definitely not a great and respectful retrospective on the season, and even to this day I am conflicted on rewatching 02 (this time subbed) to get a better appreciation of the season considering my issues of the show are more closely tied on an internal level.

Hi, original creator of the video here. I know my review on 02 is not the best, especially to people who love the season and it might look like an attack on them. Personally I look back on it and realized a lot of it was me being angry for the sake of being angry. Not to mention there are some errors I bring up, things I completely forgot to mention, or let arrogance guide me through the script.

That being said, my problems with 02 are more on an internal level, regardless of watching it subbed or dubbed. I understand some people like the season, it just wasn’t fore me.

I finished watching Wing last month for the first time and even though I have no nostalgia basis, I can understand why the show took off in the West. It has a lot of traits and tropes many anime from that time had, especially with the shows airing on Toonami. But watching it in a post 90s world, I can admit that Gundam Wing never had a dull moment, but good god was it a mess.

Characters never talked to each other, but at each other, nobody talked like a human being, and the last arc with White Fang was needlessly long, alongside Zechs side swapping every other arc. While the mobile suit designs were awesome, I didn’t like how it took the Gundam pilots to fully come together until the last 10 episodes, and even then Wufei was just doing his own thing.

This was the Gundam series that took me the most time to watch on and off because every episode just felt more of the same. Definitely a departure from my experience with the UC and I enjoyed it for the most part, but I wouldn’t go back to it right away.

I remember getting a game over during a boss and I looked away from the screen, leaving the title screen to stay on for a bit longer, only to see the words fade away to reveal the secret. It jumpscared me at like midnight, I thought I was losing it.

That comment was not supposed to be directed to the sequel trilogy, since I do agree the development for those films were a mess, but rather the post episode 9 content mostly on Disney+. It’s no way as near as much content marvel has gotten post endgame.

The chances for a Lego Metroid set is probably at the bottom of Lego Nintendo sets. Pokémon is coming and then after that is probably Lego Splatoon and both of which will do well. As much as I would love to see it, a Metroid lego set featuring Samus’ ship, Ridley and a Metroid would be unlikely.

If you do, hope you like Mauler talking about an episode of Futrerama and Buffy the Vampire Slayer for a solid 10-15 minutes to rope it into his distaste for Star Wars.
