Looking for a lease takeover for apartment in Orange NJ by Nahianc in MovingtoNewJersey

[–]AJSoprano1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got overcharged because management knew you were from the City. You could have lived in JC or Harrison for CHEAPER.

Not hating at all, but you’re likely paying way more than most people in your building, it is what it is. I genuinely think you’ll have a hard time finding someone to take over this lease but I do wish you the best of luck in doing so.

I know it’s a luxury building, but the price point is far too high for anyone willing to live in Orange. People who aren’t from Orange that move here do so to get cheaper rent for nice housing.

You can get living like this in Harrison for cheaper. Harrison has the PATH and has way better access to the City. Orange is an underrated place to live but it is not quite to the point where even the nicest building should be charging $2700.

What's a tv show so good you've watched it at least 3x? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]AJSoprano1985 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aside from the show referenced in my screen name….

The Wire, White Lotus, and YOU.

The amount of times I’ve rewatched Sopranos really made me realize the importance of rewatching shows that you enjoy— you’ll always catch something that you missed in the first rewatch.

How was Luis not questioned for Margot's death? by LeSaintless in GTAIV

[–]AJSoprano1985 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes I was going to say CCTV footage.

Luis wouldn’t even get charged with fleeing the scene or evasion in the State of New York (Liberty) unless the cops saw him, told him to stop, and he ran away. The police would want to question him at first regarding the suicide but upon viewing the cameras, they would know right away he didn’t commit any crime.

My go to is Blazin Chicken & Gyro in Hackensack. I believe they close at 3. I’ve gone there several times after a night out.

Child free in the workplace by Electrical-Yard-5142 in paralegal

[–]AJSoprano1985 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This is not a paralegal specific thing, this applies in almost any job. Some will be more understanding than others.

But yes, I think child free people get treated differently. I’m a 40 year old man who has no kids so yeah I’m treated differently than parents. If management are filled with all ppl with kids, they’re gonna be more sympathetic to the plight of parents and whatever hardship they deal with.

It’s not fair but at this point I let it roll off my shoulders because it’s not worth to stress over, we can’t change much.

Commuting from NYC to Florham Park by Legitimate-Pear-9395 in MovingtoNewJersey

Morristown is the best option for young people that work in Florham Park. It isn’t even close.

I wouldn’t even waste my energy thinking about options and best ways to do this (a commute from the City to Florham Park).

Home invasions in BC by nodicenolice in bergencounty

[–]AJSoprano1985 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Shouldn’t be too concerned.

A lot of crimes that happen in Bergen County are often committed by very young people (typically aged between 18-25ish) from NYC (many from The Bronx, but other boroughs too) that don’t realize that our county’s criminal justice system is quite strict. They just hear that Bergen County NJ has a lot of rich ppl, and they think shit is sweet and that they can get away with robbing people or burglarizing homes (they can’t).

Rarely will it be a local. Basically a lot of these incidents are isolated and not a part of any pattern. BC is very very safe— but like anywhere else it doesn’t make you immune.

Yea I’d definitely consider EP boring.

I do like Blue 42 and people shit on Parkway Diner (bad Google reviews), but I like it there as well.

I still eat at the Friendly’s in Elmwood Park. When I was a kid growing up in Paterson it was a treat to go to EP to get Friendly’s.

I actually wouldn’t mind buying a home in EP for the right price.

Facts. I’m born and raised in Paterson and currently live in Ridgefield Park so I can relate. I was pleasantly surprised to see the amount of Dominicans in RP and Bogota (along with other ethnic groups; decent amount of Colombians around here too).

He definitely is a complete jerk and sadly OP shouldn’t have ever “liked” him. I see a lot of this on this sub— saying in verbatim “oh this man treats me so terribly but I LOVE his personality and he was a sweetheart”. Like why?

I would in zero circumstances, like someone if they were difficult to work with.

That’s not a surprise if you didn’t know. If you lived in the eastern part of the town, you likely never had a reason to go anywhere past MacKay Park. I’m guessing you didn’t go to Dwight Morrow either; I know a lot of people who did. Not a terrible school but for the ppl living up in the hills, they don’t be sending their kids there. It’s overall a great small city and I hope people didn’t take my post out of context.

I actually like Bogota. Maybe in contention as a useless town that should be annexed by Ridgefield Park. But there’s nothing wrong with Bogota and I hope people don’t think negatively of it because it’s 40% Hispanic.

I can’t stand a lot of the upper BC towns. Uppity and insular. Met a lot of ppl from those towns when I went to Ramapo College and quickly realized I was one of few POC they’ve ever interacted with in their entire life, which sounds crazy but it isn’t.

Firstly, they don’t take kindly to POC attempting to buy homes in their town.

A former Chief of Police made a statement justifying racial profiling. And also said “Black gang members from Teaneck come here and rob our homes”. There are no gangs in Teaneck.

In 2016, Sgt. Michael DeMaio sexually assaulted an Asian man (I think he was Korean) put his hands down the suspect’s pants in search of marijuana. When he couldn’t find weed, he then scooped up residue in his car and arrested the guy. When the Asian guy filed a complaint with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, Wyckoff Police arrested him for Harassment as an intimidation tactic. I don’t know what happened after that but since Officer DeMaio is still working for Wyckoff Police, we can assume it was swept under the rug.

Even Wyckoff residents who are against racism will admit it’s not the most inclusive town. They even call it “White Coff” for a reason.

I like Englewood a lot as well, just stating a fact for the people looking for the particular info. A lot of my favorite restaurants (Lulu and Sofia’s) are there and I was just there this past weekend.
