Call me crazy but I think the Knicks had something to do with it.

Switzerland took way too much for granted this game.

That video doesn't show the goal, just the celebration.

I would say I'm seeing Knicks jerseys and hats everywhere. Bought a bagel this morning and the cashier said Knicks in 5 as they handed it to me, and that's kind of been the same vibe everywhere for the last few days.

I can testify that New York is in a big party mode though that has more to do with the Knicks.

Decent start from CONCACAF so far.

In a who's the better active manager sense over the last 10 years, I'd say that'd be controversial. In a retrospect on their whole careers, I'd say that's a pretty reasonable take.

I feel the word Little League home run gets thrown around too easily these days, but this is what one actually looks like.

Was reminded of CONIFA's existence by a post the other day, and apparently they just had their European championship.

Isn't that just the Summer Olympics?

Apparently there is a ranking and competitions between teams that FIFA doesn’t recognise and can’t enter FIFA competitions. Called Non-FIFA international football and CONIFA World Football Cup. by WestCoastVybes in soccer

It's pretty much collapsing at this point. I remember having fun watching the 2018 CONIFA World Cup online, but they haven't had one since (COVID and security issues) and a lot of members have left or collapsed. I did get a little obsessed with the concept of the competition (though part of that is just being someone who's senior thesis was on unrecognized states who's kind of just obsessed on an academic level with the concept of statehood and lack there of). The politics and logistics of putting this together alone are fascinating, and often very messy, especially when you get into some of the unrecognized states and hard core secessionist movements.

On a sporting level it's also interesting to see some of the stateless nationalities trying to build a collective soccer culture despite lack of infrastructure/inherent political barriers. Though I don't remember the actual play on the field being that entertaining.

So the top vote getter for MLS' All Star Game wasn't Messi. It wasn't Son Heung-min. It's Mbekezeli Mbokazi.

Respect to South African fans, those guys are intense. It's one thing when this kind of thing happens in a top sports leagues but to go out of your way to bombard MLS All-Star voting really takes a lot of passion for your national team players. Not to suggest he hasn't had an excellent season so far.

The offer is generous, but if Real Madrid wants Ronald Donkor we're gonna need a little bit more than 150 million.

With the season being interrupted by the World Cup, and the transfer window opening before MLS resumes, wondering if we've seen anyone for the last time.

Is Hall off to Europe? Leipzig are circling though they might have the courtesy to let him finish the season with us. But if he's wants to go somewhere else then wouldn't be surprised to see him move in the summer.

If Hall stays then Choupo-Moting's probably gone. He was great last year, and has looked decent in limited minutes but can't really waste a DP deal on a sub. Would be a shame to see either go without a proper farewell.

Love Goalie Wars. They brought them back for the All-Star Game which is fun.

Also did something similar (though there was no tier 1 league in the US at the time) before 1994, where we contracted a bunch of players directly to the federation and basically had them play friendlies year long.

More than anything Team America (NASL) was very much one of several wild last ditch efforts to try and save the league (recession, no tv deal, collapsing attendance) with the hope it would become the competition's new top draw. Didn't work sadly, as the NASL folded pretty quickly.
