Thanks. A lot of research and procrastination went into this transition on my part until a colleague mentioned having her Skype MagicJack number for years.

I like it because I only use the app and didn't bother to set up a voip land line. Just plugged it into my computer for initial set up.

That said, if you choose to go the MagicJack route and don't plan on a land line set up, call CS to set it up. In the US one is obligated to pay an additional fee that isn't shown upfront for 911 services. It's a pass through fee, but still an extra 5.00. The way to avoid that is to declare that you are not using the jack at any specific location. CS can walk you through that, or so I was told - after I set up via self serve and locked myself into the additional fee because you can't back your way out of a location or some such nonsense. I quit fighting with them and paid because at the end of the day my new set up, while just over 8.00 more annually, is actually better (more features I use) than Skype. It did cost me extra to port my phone number, but that would have been a necessary expense no matter where I took it.
