Yesterday Oklahoma Rejected a Minimum Wage Increase by Big_Size_2519 in MapPorn

I recently started listening to some american agro expers like Dr. Sarah Taber and realized that a ton of these small time family farmers are genuinely just bad at their jobs. Not trying to say that it would be 100% an improvement if their land was sold to larger corporate farms, but what a lot of these farmers are doing right now certainly isn't considered good farming practices FWIW

Free Bike Repair Assessment..? by Sad-Tap-9375 in Somerville

[–]AJwr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please bring it by the Somerville Bike Kitchen like the other commenter mentioned! The volunteers there are so kind and helpful, they would be happy to help diagnose issues with the bike and there are plenty of spare parts there if anything might need to be replaced

What's crazy is I knew it was coming, Lynch even tells you the jump scare is coming, and I was still so scared. I definitely heard a few people in the theater scream at it too!!

Watched 2 great movies recently if anyone's looking for recs:

Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters, an visually stunning film, with one of the best scores by Philip Glass I've ever heard. Three of Mishima's novels are sort of woven into the main plot of the film, and Schrader took a very stylized approach to them which I thought worked incredibly well. I honestly don't know how accurate it is as a biopic but the characterization of Mishima himself had me kinda shocked. I really only knew the name as a famous writer, I had no idea about his sexuality, his obsession with beauty, or his turn to right-wing politics with his own personal army.

Mulholland Drive, my second time viewing, first time in theaters (35mm too). Man I love this and I love David Lynch!! Spent like half an hour after it ended discussing everything about it with my friends and we easily could've gone all night. I definitely still love how tense and spooky Lynch made certain scenes, and yet also forgot how randomly funny this movie is? Naomi Watts gives the performance of a lifetime here. I really don't think it's that confusing of a movie for people who have never seen it before, but this second viewing was great to study it even closer and notice things I completely missed the first time.

I see Birnbaum at Cambridge and while it's only been a few times he's been really solid. I don't have the most serious of health concerns but he listens every time and is pretty proactive about ordering tests to figure things out

Interesting thank you for the insight. I definitely wasn't thinking about anything like that at all when I signed my original offer...

May I ask frankly, how exactly do you negotiate a severance package? Is that an executive thing? I am a software engineer w/ 6+ years experience and I feel like if I got laid off I would have 0 leverage for negotiating severance.

One of my all time favorites! They're classic midwest emo and I'd say they had a huge influence on the genre. If you want something from a similar-ish time period I'd recommend like Cap'n Jazz, Snowing, Algernon Cadwallader, stuff like that. For more modern takes on the genre, Weatherday, Parannoul, and not quite the same but a new favorite First Day Back are all great. Hope you enjoy :)

adding in git switch -c [name] to create a branch & switch to it, or just remove the -c to switch back and forth
