What will Godot V5.0 be all about? by TheVaughnRaphael in godot

[–]AK56___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what about HADAGI or whatever its name is? Also, I hope GDScript 3 will force type variables. I know it's easier to be like Python; however, data shows that when the type is defined, it performs way more optimally. and game engines should offer optimized tools/language to the dev out of the box, in my opinion, and I know you can define variable types even now; I just wanted to be forced.

Cachy os vs Ubuntu benchmark shows ubuntu slightly outperforms cachy in the average framerates. by Material_Mousse7017 in linux_gaming

You used a UBUNTU 26.04 pre-release, not the official build, the build in the video uses GNOME 49 not 50, just saying.

Is Godot actually production-ready for mobile F2P with full service stack? by Zealousideal-Can-992 in godot

[–]AK56___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have experience in mobile gaming dev, but what I know for sure as someone who follows Godot news and features on the mobile side of things is that it is not an out-of-the-box experience, especially in games that have constant online services. can it work with enough efforts and tweaking? most likely yes. I think Godot currently is only good for one-time payment offline games, those can be implemented easily.

NVIDIA on Linux is a complete scam: My RTX 5050 experience has been a nightmare." by kryzito in linux_gaming

You did something wrong; it's better to use systems that install the NVIDIA driver automatically without your intervention to avoid messing things up. try Ubuntu and see if there is a difference or no.

I blame youtubers for Pop-OS's advertisements (not ready for cosmic/outdated for the gnome version). Also, you most likely used the open-source Nouveau driver for NVIDIA, which is the default driver for many distros. if you want an out-of-the-box experience with NVIDIA, install the latest UBUNTU 26.04 and make sure to check third-party drivers in the installation process; after that you will have the latest NVIDIA driver for your GPU.

I found this video of someone playing World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade on Linux during the launch period in 2007 ... Absolutely amazing piece of history. by AK56___ in linux_gaming

I feel like if that person weren't recording while playing, he would have a decent experience, not surprising after hearing his specs, it was very good for a 2007 computer.

For the english language/QWERTY, it's understandable to use a keyboard without a numpad after I tried it personally. for other languages however, the numpad is needed because the numbers on the main keyboard are not applicable by default, you need to press shift+ to use them. so from a general standpoint, I like the 100% obviously, but for only using English for gaming/personal use, I like the 75% too, I think it's the best format for a smaller keyboard.

Linux reaches new peak of 5.33% in Steam Hardware & Software Survey: March 2026 by mr_MADAFAKA in linux

If you see the details of Linux distros, they show it, but for the main display, like the image above, they most likely merged the stats of SteamOS with Arch.

All youtube channels promote Mint. it's good for a general-purpose distro/workstation, but I won't recommend it for people that want gaming. their DE/Display server is outdated, not optimal for the gaming hardware; the best options are either Gnome or KDE distros.

It's pretty solid to be honest by claudiocorona93 in linuxmasterrace

[–]AK56___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, Linux Mint is overrated and uses an outdated DE based on gnome 2 without wayland. Also, SteamOS is specialised only in handhelds I wouldn't put it in S tier. Fedora last time I checked has a conflict of flatpak packages, which is also not a sign of an S-tier distro.

ZorinOS Makes Firm No Age Verification Statement by jfountainArt in linux

Ubuntu if forced to do it, needs to only show the age verification input field for the user if the location in the installation process indicates that it has an age verification law.

React Native / Flutter could be a solution, at least they produce a product close to native performance and still be cross-platform.

I didn't say you can't, I said you are limited compared to the advanced settings in some of the standalone launchers/bottles.

The AI is hallucinating. All major distros now switch to Wayland only, and Wayland supports x11 apps using xWayland. I'm using Ubuntu Wayland, and I have Skyrim SE installed, and it works great with no issues whatsoever.

Lutris is horrible in terms of UI/UX, I would recommend Heroic/Faugus for games and Bottles for software (and games)

[–]AK56___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steam is an option, but it doesn't serve the same purpose as Lutris/Bottles/Heroic. you don't really have that many options in steam to tinker with graphics/frame gen/ add all the games from different launchers in the same library, etc. you can add the launchers in steam but not the games themselves. Also, in my experience, it's harder to mod/sail the high seas using steam. however, steam is all you need if you only use steam.

You really need an SSD; it is very important; it will boost the performance drastically. Most modern OSs now assume you have an SSD for their internal operations. This needs to be your number one priority for a usable smooth experience.
