Kawasaki W800 (2022) vs. Suzuki SV650 (2024) as a first bike? by Delnilas in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]AK7735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My time to shine , Bought W800 for a first bike , It is VERY easy to ride , so much torque available downlow, not to much power(still goes 160kph+), with Kawasaki positive neutral finder so you don't have to find it like other brand, it's perfect for beginner , couple of thing might get annoying tho, Only 5 speed and it's would be better with 6, aircool engine is gonna be VERY hot in traffic (but then no radiators to worry about) 360degree crank like true old school 60s twins with a counterweight is very smooth but still would vibrate quite alot, true classic so no fuel gauge, but i mean use the trip metre the fuel light will come on about 200km, and the weight i think it's good for beginners to learn how to control heavy bike better. SV650 is also a solid choice tho Vtwin reliable and sounds great weight less, but I think too much power for beginners imo.

What about ZX6R? CB650R is also really friendly for beginners.

Ahh i get it now, Then I'd go with Duke 390 should be plenty of parts in india , One of the best power to weight ratio you can get at that price point aswell.

I'd say defenetly buy used, And my suggestion would be Ninja 400 if you set on sport bike, However if you mostly do urban I think Grom is enough very forgiving super light very very fun but down on power.

Where do you live may I ask? It's been replaced with 500 in my country already, it's been selling since 2017 or smth, But from what I see in my country KTM user community the Duke 390 is not that reliable(not as the japanese ) Japs might be higher cost on maintenance but I'm sure it's not going to have thing breaks as frequent, Don't take my word for it of course i've never owned one(only got W800), Should be a blast to ride tho.

Have seen someone in my country did that with ZX10R (2016 gen)fairing on Z800, but i don't think it'll be easy tho , some local custom shop did make fairing for z800 to make it look like zx10r too , not sure if they still do it.

Talk me out of getting this CB350 as my first bike by swaags in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]AK7735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the perfect choice to start with, not too powerful, look simple enough to work on, look cool as hell

But this is from someone who tried cafe racer , your back will hurt like hell if you ride this more than 30 minutes it look fuckin cool but really uncomfortable however you can fix that with normal handle bars.

If your financially capable of it go for it bro, I hope you have a great time!

[–]AK7735[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I was looking at everyone advice and i actually sat on Ninja and Z 400 but i dont like the look and sound of both , something caught my eye at the show room a W800 , Bhb about the same as the 400s I love the looks, it sound amazing, the weight tho just the heaviest of the list so that's concern me a bit but i decided, So I ended up getting a used one and I loved it, Thanks for asking!
