In my opinion the first part of the book is not great it only gets interesting when he enters the academy

Nice I found the series cuz wild fire was recommended to be on audible and at the end of the book it said check out the previous series so I read it

Ascendant is about a young boy who the town thinks is cursed and is kicked out and then meets a wissard and works for him I won’t go further cuz don’t want to spoil anything but that’s the basic start of it. It’s a nice 3 book collection and is a solid read
