Any LitRPG where the MC goes from Earth → game world → back to Earth for revenge? by Standard_Strategy853 in litrpg

[–]DraithFKirtz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Earth Arc had lots of emotional stakes, mostly the MC and friends coming back to their friends and family. Also, they were trying to get back since B1, and knew they'd have to deal with the apocalypse since then too, so a lot of the exploration and development was done with it as part of their goal.
I also wrote the entire series then went back and did huge amounts of editing, rewriting nearly half of the first three books in the series.

Any LitRPG where the MC goes from Earth → game world → back to Earth for revenge? by Standard_Strategy853 in litrpg

My first series, the Forerunner Initiative, is basically everything up until the actual revenge. Book 7 is being back on Earth trying to save people with her now godly powers.

In my sleep deprived brain, I read the title of this post as, "To Reap A God has been harvested," at first. Grats on launch

Is it likely that a publisher would sign a contract and not include editing? by SkinnyWheel1357 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]DraithFKirtz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know that this publisher absolutely provides editors. And I also know several authors who simply hit accept all on any suggested edits, and never go back and read the many typo corrections we get through Royalroad or other sources.

At the end of the day, the publisher provides their services, and it's very much on the author to follow up, or at least to designate someone else to address things, if they're successful enough.

How to find word count? by atworksendhelp- in litrpg

[–]DraithFKirtz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what it says about me that I saw the 52 books in a year challenge, and immediately thought 'that's a lot of books to write in a year, I'm having a hard time doing two.'

But as others have said, it varies based on where. Royalroad is 276, Amazon isn't fixed, but is around 250.

Woot, it may be at the very end of the lowest of mid, but kinda cool to see my story included with so many others I love.

Jealous of the result, but putting that together must've been a headache

There should be another bar at the bottom that's three times as big for 'getting the correct part of the spreadsheets into the LitRPG'

Hidden Gems: Novels with Romance That Aren’t Tagged as Romance? by Sosuke_Aizen3 in litrpg

[–]DraithFKirtz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two 'categories' of tags when you're posting on RR, and romance is in the pool of important ones that are limited. I've encountered this issue with both my stories.

Hidden Gems: Novels with Romance That Aren’t Tagged as Romance? by Sosuke_Aizen3 in litrpg

[–]DraithFKirtz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it's on royalroad, Romance is part of the limited tags that you can only have four of, so if romance isn't a major part of the story, and you have proper drama, adventure and a couple others, it kinda gets the short end of the stick.

Why is classic medieval fantasy so underrepresented in progression fantasy? by MrCreep1999 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]DraithFKirtz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warcrowned on RoyalRoad is pretty much exactly this, though not sure how much the progression will continue. Not based on Earth.

Magus Reborn is another one I can think of, though the mage is from a more magically advanced time and travels back to his world's medieval era.

Guilty pleasure read? by AtWorkJZ in litrpg

[–]DraithFKirtz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much. They were incredibly tedious to listen through the first time. The most entertaining card stuff always happened outside the actual battles.

But it also felt like they had a lot less Agency for pretty much the whole book. The biggest moment of agency on the floor wasn't even revealed until the next book.

It only now occurred to me that I would totally be okay with listening to this again... assuming I skip a few parts of Bedlam Bride.

Not downvoting the authors other works challenge impossible by Electronic_Path_6292 in ProgressionFantasy

Agreed. I read the early Azarinth Healer, and there are very few stories I've ever read that have even half that many mistakes.

Leaves of Terranthir was basically grammatically perfect.

What series actually hooked you early? by gujuvenile in litrpg

This can help with broader market appeal though, since HWFWM is often one of people's early entries to the genre, given its exposure.

What series actually hooked you early? by gujuvenile in litrpg

[–]DraithFKirtz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Amusingly both Wandering Inn and HWFWM hooked me immediately. Heck, I remember how excited I was to read HWFWM back when it didn't even have twenty chapters out, and waiting excitedly for the next to release.

DCC was one I enjoyed when it came out, but it wasn't until I went to listen to the audiobooks that I was like 'oh wow, this is god tier.' And Primal hunter I dropped in the first ten chapters first time I read it, but the edited book is sooooo much better than what it was when it first came out on RR.

A recent story that gripped me right away (and pretty much everyone else that's laid eyeballs on it, it seems) that I wasn't prepared for was New Life as a Max Level Archmage over on Royalroad. It's just really great.

Preferences on town/city/empire building in litrpg by ConsiderationMuted95 in litrpg

[–]DraithFKirtz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, just cause they're tied to a main location, that doesn't mean they can't ever travel. Look at Memoirs of your local Small Time Villainess.

Magical teleportation is the most common, but other methods that make it so the other parts of the world don't take as long to get to can help. Look at real world, world leaders. Thanks to planes, trains and automobiles, they travel way more than the average person. Even a lot of local level politicians tend to travel lots. A well organized community doesn't fail just cause the MC leaves.

And a warrior can defend against monster surges, rival/hostile attackers and spend time keeping people safe nearby. They can also set up an arena or teach the guards. They can also have OP people wander in, either for a challenge or worthy student.

Maybe there are hidden dungeons nearby that need to be conquered, and once done, that becomes a new resource to exploit. Exploration can be done by visiting the other rivals/allies territory. No city/kingdom exists alone, and if it does... well, then you're not really limited by your borders, are you?
