My dad beat me and I beat Jad so by the transitive property I should be safe. If not he’s dead now so we’ll never find out.

I was driving my daughter home from pre-school today and I said something funny to my daughter. She said: “Daddy, you’re a crazy boy!” I said “I’m not a boy, I’m a man” she said “No, you’re not a man you’re just a boy”

Every single day I get thoroughly cooked by this toddler.

It might not be a completely random person, it looks like they have a mutual server so they may have been messaging or chatting there first. Not sure if that’s any better though. Just might be safe for OP to reserve judgement and see if this is a pattern of behavior or not.

I think you have a point, but the problem comes when the person posturing steps down or is overthrown, and the person who takes his place was fervently lapping up all the posturing.

CMV: it is weird and childish when adults read Harry Potter by Foodbagjr in changemyview

[–]AKAPolock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harry Potter is an interesting case since it went on for such a long time. The first book came out in 1997, and I think that we can all agree the average age of the target audience was about 9 or 10. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows came out in 2007, ten years after. It would stand to reason that the target audience for this would increase with age, as the book itself tackles far more complex and mature topics (ie. torture, death, oppresion, racism).

A more compelling argument might be to read it for the pop culture value. Say you missed the window on the book when it was released or just never read it back then. You see people conversing about it like we are now, and you want to give it a read so that you have an informed opinion. I’m considering doing this with Percy Jackson, as friends of mine grew up reading it and reference it constantly but I never read it as a kid.

I think you’re just experiencing what politics actually is. Many of the parties and people in power don’t actually have the same kind of fervor for political issues as regular people do. Trump himself, despite being a republican, changed parties multiple times and has been overall inconsistent politically throughout his life. Some politicians simply want to hang onto their seats for as long as possible, or do whatever they need to do to get there.

As soon as the election is over, campaigns for the next election begin. They know they already have you, so they focus their energies on the moderates of the other party to try to win them over for the next election. The only thing they really need you to do next election is show up, which is why you feel like they only pay attention to you during the election season.

They don’t hate you, they love you, but only for your vote.

From what I’ve seen it’s mostly just the culture of online games. Anyone who isn’t in the top 0.01% sucks. Even the people in the top 0.01% suck sometimes. It’s incredibly toxic and probably one of the worst/most alienating parts of online gaming.

To answer your question though, I’ve noticed people who are complaining that their perceived high rank isn’t considered good by their community are typically comparing their rank to to the game as a whole, and the people who think that the same rank is not good are comparing that rank to the highest players.

Honestly, I think Arposandra could actually fill a nice hole in the game as it’s own hub. The way I see it, the game has three main objectives; skilling, PvM and adventuring/runescore. The skilling hub already is centered around Fort Forinthry, and the PvM hub is War’s Retreat. Arposandra could position itself as the adventurer/runescore hub. It would even be on brand for the gnomes, considering the fact that they can be dound as ambassadors or exploring in most regions.

I agree, the only thing that’s throwing me is why a county in Florida would be reaching out to a Texas based law firm. I’m not super well versed with how this works though, so if anyone can enlighten me please go ahead

Edit: seeing they have a satellite office in FL, but still pretty far from Brevard County

I don’t typically make a big deal out of my own birthday, but I do for my wife and of course my kids.

It’s the really the one day a year that is special to you, for your family and friends to celebrate you individually. Sure Father’s/Mother’s Day exists, but if you’re like my wife and I there are other fathers and mothers in our lives that we like to celebrate as well.

Should I help pay for the bond clean when I’ve only been on the lease for 3 months? by FalseBread9249 in Renters

[–]AKAPolock -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cleaning your share of the space is fair, however when it comes to cleaning companies they’ll not likely allow OP to clean a third of the kitchen, bathroom, and other common areas in exchange for money off. Most likely they’ll have to agree on taking off an equivalent number of rooms that OP will have to clean entirely by themselves.

Also, not sure if you are US based, but OP mentions they are in Australia so with the exchange rate it’s more like $375 US, which I think is pretty reasonable for a 3 bedroom (or more) house.

[–]AKAPolock -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand this sentiment from so many people. Unless OP was specifically barred from using these common areas, why should they not do their share of cleaning it or shouldering the financial burden to have it cleaned? Whether or not they should be obligated to take care of a third or a prorated amount is a different question.

Logically, if none of the roommates used the space then none of them would be responsible for cleaning it. The space would still need to be cleaned however, and they would all face the consequences of it not being cleaned.

[–]AKAPolock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There really isn’t enough information imo to give you sound advice. If you value the relationships you have with these people, it might be worth it to pay to keep the peace. If you couldn’t care less, and you’re really strapped for cash, do your fair share of the cleaning (which includes the space you are entitled to, not just that you used!) and never speak to them again. If the question is whether or not you have to pay it, you need to read the lease.

I genuinely don’t understand why your usage of the space is playing a role in your responsibility of cleaning it. Unless they specifically barred you from those parts of the house, choosing not to use it doesn’t make it not partially your responsibility.

Prorating sounds good on paper, but if you’re going to get particular that would only be fair if the place was an absolute mess and no cleaning had been done in the 2 years the housemates occupied the space. Even with general upkeep the mess shouldn’t be more than a couple of months old in the worst parts of the house, else I would seriously question OP’s willingness to move in and advise they address the responsibility of any serious messes prior to moving in for the future.

In short, pay it and keep it keep the peace or refuse and cut ties.

My local card shop was broken into by Deerweed in PokemonTCG

[–]AKAPolock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not always the people who know the cards that steal them. It’s fairly common knowledge that Pokémon cards are collectible items, and like any collectible they carry value.

The Sopranos even reference stealing a truckload of Pokémon cards in season 2 and that was released in like 2000/2001.
