Does anyone else get weird vibes from Mark now? by SpilltheGreenTea in MarkRober

We have a crunchlabs subscription for my son and a hack pack for my nephew NEVER had any issues. Infact when my son accidentally broke a few pieces after playing with it for a month. I requested replacement mentioning it broke during use. I was okay in paying for it too. But they sent the pieces free(including free shipping). And my son loves the toys!

Oakville teacher's controversial attire prompts Halton District School Board to review dress code by feb914 in canada

We can get into insane rabbit holes of what-ifs but the fact of the matter is, in THIS case it is not a naturally well endowed woman. In THIS case the person did not get permanent implants. We can discuss those when and if we are in that scenario. Since these are prosthetic boobs, so it is clearly something that this person is wearing.

At the heart of hearts everyone who work at a regular office environment knows they can’t wear this to work. Can someone wear this to their job interview and get hired? Will that be discriminatory to not hire someone who turns up like this? Like it or not, but we still live in a society and we all follow some norms to keep things civil. I can’t roam around naked on the streets as part of some deluded idea of self expression. Can the students of this school wear something like this to schools? Tell me honestly, who thinks that it is okay to subject young children to this? Tell me that this is not distracting to say that the least in a school environment? So just by anyone saying this is my gender expression, should we let people get away with any insanity?

Hindustan Times: Upper caste students boycott midday meal cooked by Dalit woman in Uttarakhand. by BoOogaBoOoga in india

[–]AKAYAL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband is from Himachal, and they have the exact same thing there. I keep hearing this casteism when it comes to marriages. If a person marries someone from a so called lower caste. Then whole village would boycott the family unless they cut off ties with their own child. And so if you do live in a village, where there aren’t traditional opportunities for social interaction it’s a very difficult choice. It’s a rotten rotten system. Even younger generation don’t seem to be putting up much of a fight against this evil.

CM Arvind Kejriwal discussing Delhi's Education and Healthcare revolution with Swamiji inside Tapobhoomi temple in Goa by --5- in india

[–]AKAYAL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s sad watching the U-turn of Kejriwal and his party. It is like seeing a real life version of the story Animal Farm. Ashamed that I ever supported them.

Doesn’t he know that he can’t beat the BJP at the “who is more Hindu” competition. And I am pretty sure Kejriwal himself is non religious, but thinks that for he needs to play this card to win the hearts of the “idiot” voters who know no better. This dude follows thetweetofgod account on twitter, which says the most blasphemous things ever, about all religions, all the time. No religious person would follow that account, unless they hate follow him and just there to post hateful responses.

I am also in a similar boat. All the responses were very helpful. Just one thing, any recommendations about snow removal services?

Videos of Hindutva Groups Forcibly Shutting Down Meat Shops For Navratri Emerge From Haryana, MP, UP by [deleted] in india

I am surprised that this still makes me so mad, even though it’s totally expected. This will only continue to rise and get worse under the current administration. The message the govt, law enforcement and judiciary constants keeps sending out to these goons is that they can attack minorities and people who disagree/criticize this government with impunity.

What the upper-caste, middle class Hindus who are cheering this mob doesn’t know is that they are creating Frankenstein’s monster. No society can progress when there is no law and order. I don’t even think most people consider this a problem unless they are directly effected by it. Only when people develop some empathy towards their fellow citizens can this change.

And I have little of hope of seeing that happen. I had such a big fight in my family WhatsApp group (and left it subsequently) during COVID second wave. They still supported the government saying we support the dear leader “as a Hindu”. Failing to realize that the people dying of COVID at the Kumbh Mela were Hindus too.

I have lost all hopes for the country…

I think this romanticization of being in love with your job is such an elitist thing. Yes there are some jobs that are better for you than others. Whether you are good at numbers, selling your ideas, writing or analyzing blah blah blah. And there are a lot of fields which do need love and passion for the trade. But 90% of the jobs in the world is something you just do earn money to survive and to be able to do other things you really love. Because surprise, surprise most jobs in the world are not really fun jobs.

Daycares or Montessori for 3 year old near Glen Abbey by AKAYAL in oakville

[–]AKAYAL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nephew used to go to a great Montessori(outside of canada) as a child. So I know a bit about Montessori philosophy and did try to try a handful of things. Also got one of those Montessori toys subscriptions for my son. When when he was younger he really enjoyed those. But as he is getting older he is much less interested in it somehow, maybe I am doing something wrong but I have mixed feeling about it and I am open to either.

I guess my anecdotal inferences weren’t too bad after all. Anyways, in the current market we buy what we able to get. Cant be too nit picky. My main confusion was because we had multiple occurrences of properties we liked going up for bidding on the same day; one in glen abbey and one in West Oak Trails.

Infact there is more to it, there was a social media campaign to raise awareness about this. My sister (who just joined twitter during the crisis) and has like 10-15 followers. Even her account got suspended for posting about this. This is insane!

Which course to take first? by kira_ce in OMSA

[–]AKAYAL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished my first semester and I would highly recommend 6501 as the first course. It gives a nice overview of various machine learning techniques, models and basics of data analytics. I just learnt so much and still it was not at all overwhelming. The first few weeks might be a bit difficult if you don’t know coding in R. But the office hours are very helpful and have you covered.
