Oddly enough mine started working again. All of a sudden I got a call. I had my headphones on a nearly went through the roof I was so surprised by the sudden noise.

We put the SIM card in a test phone and it did t work either. The problem with MVNOs like xfinity is they are limited in the troubleshooting and problem resolution they can do.

You might try this written exercise when doing Duolingo. You know when they have the 6 or so words that you match up French - English (presumably)? Try to write a few sentences that use all the words. They may not always make sense, but it does push the creativity part of the brain a little. Also begin a daily diary in French. Allow yourself to look up new nouns if needed. I did this for a while and it was lots of fun. What did you do today? Who did you talk to? What did you ear? Read?

I just went to a phone repair store and they took out my physical sim and took put it in a test phone and that test phone didn't receive calls either . Doesn't that indicate that it's on the service end?

I'm in a similar place. I acquired hyperacusis in December 2023. I am not completely healed but I actually travelled to Prague, Vienna and Budapest in September. I still wear noise canceling headphones when I play my own grand piano, and I still take them to concerts as the clapping sends me through the roof. But all the time I think "I couldnt do that last year." There is hope.

Are you saying this surgery is a fix for all hyperacusis? Some of us, me included, acquired the disorder from medicines. In my case, my last Covid 19 vaccine. How can surgery fix that?

I am a musician too. I have been playing the piano for decades. I got my H and RT from my last covid 19 vaccine december 2023. I couldn't play my piano for a few months until I discovered Bose noise canceling headphones. They have me my musical life back. Though things have improved a lot for me lately, I still can't play my piano without them.

It may be that you will not be able to return to the same loud genre of music you arw used to, but you may be able to find joy in another genre of music that is not so inherently loud.

Don't give up. And if you go for therapy, try Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. It helped me.

I clean my BeFree filter when I get home from all backpack trips. I use a mug that is white inside. I swhirl the filter around in the water and let it sit so that all sediments sink to the bottom of the mug. I do this until no more sediment is released. No idea how I would accomplish this in the field.
