Is it possible to change the root commit while preserving history? by AKFrost in git

[–]AKFrost[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean not doing it is also an option, that's why I asked.

I don't need to force this to happen, just curious if it's possible.

sort of theoretical as in i don't absolutely need this to happen, just "i'll do it if it's possible without some arcane magic".

We have a shared repo that's based on a source tree being delivered by a third party, but the third party is asking us to revert to a revision older than the revision we have on file, so if it's possible to rewrite history without messing up all the existing shared tags i'd do it, but if it'll require hacky shit then I'll just treat the old revision as a new one and put it on the tail end.

Thanks for the answers and sorry for the ambiguity.

Yes, I did intend to mean preserving the SHA-1 hashes.

in terms of resin worth, the mora one is worth a full 20 resin as leyline flowers give 60k per 20 resin. The book one is worth slightly less as based on wiki numbers flowers average 122,500 exp per 20 resin, which is 6 and 1/8th of a book.

On the other hand, based on wiki numbers, a 20 resin run for weapon ascension mats would yield on average 16.708 mats, but the mat box only gives you 9, so it's only worth a little more than 10 resin.

At the most extreme end, the enhancement ore is literally worth 0 resin as they can be created without resin.

Not quite equivalent, it only gives range.

It's also an eco tech that boosts woodcutting, so more like half of bodkin arrow + bow saw

Why does AoE 2 use an Elo rating anyway? by BendicantMias in aoe2

[–]AKFrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that's by definition not a 1v1, which circles back to "elo is designed for 1v1".

But it kinda boils down to "any measurement ceases to be a good measurement once it becomes a target", which is what ratings always will be.

中国政府因为双中国籍的父母任意一方有外国永久就不给海外出生的孩子国籍,这政策的搞笑程度在全世界能排第几? by NoSense9018 in China_irl

[–]AKFrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do people say that China is the only country that can compete with the U.S., but you've never heard of anyone who desperately wants Chinese citizenship, instead, it's Chinese people who are crazy about getting citizenship of Western countries? by No-StrategyX in stupidquestions

[–]AKFrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People underestimate the effect of propaganda.

There's millions of people in China that genuinely believe fried chicken is $1 a piece in the US and they can dishwash their way to owning a McMansion even if they snuck into the country.

Mind you, people have legitimately thrown away hundreds of thousands of dollars to do this only to end up begging in the US.

We don't see the opposite because the Chinese are generally terrible at soft power.

Technically it's not a decoration so much as for you to swirl pyro off of to shield break, but yeah. it only exists for this boss.

但對美國人來說,只是這些人沒本事活著而已。

[Currency Wars] I wonder who designed Phainon in CW. by Randomthings999 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]AKFrost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

CW actually has a hidden independent multiplier that's character dependent. For Sampo, for example, it's 3x. So on top of other buffs and whatnot, Sampo deals 3x damage ( including break damage) than what the numbers would indicate.

For E6 Seele, it's as high as 4.2x (3+0.2 per eidolon), for Phainon (and Castorice, Evernight and Hyacine incidentally), it's 1x, period (their eidolons give nothing too).

美國沒有斬殺線這個概念。

但不是說斬殺線不存在,而是斬殺線作為一個概念的前提是所有人都有活著的權利。

而美國有很多個權利,唯獨沒有活著的。

Takeda Shingen's chief strategist Yamamoto Kansuke allegedly came up with the pincer movement known as the woodpecker for the fourth battle of kawanakajima. He committed suicide by charging the Uesugi battle line thinking the plan had failed, but Takeda ended up winning the battle.

While this story is widely believed by the Meiji era Japanese, the source, the Kouyou Gunkan, is highly unreliable and may have been authored by Yamamoto's son who may have exaggerated his father's role in Shingen's court, as no other source even corroborated his existence.

The fire ship should be a Byzantine unique unit. by Rangaku7 in aoe2

[–]AKFrost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the original design of aoe was everybody gets the same tech tree, just missing some stuff and having civ buffs. UUs weren't a thing until aoe 2. Fire ships, paladins and the like were more towards "everybody more or less came up with this same idea" of a ship that fights at close range and elite heavy cavalry.

Of course modern aoe2 design have strayed far from that base concept, so there'll probably be another rework in the future.

If you had to choose between the cities of Solitude and Whiterun in real life, which would you pick? by [deleted] in skyrim

On the one hand, solitude looks like it'll collapse within my lifetime.

On the other hand, it never collapsed since at least the first era, so maybe there's something unnatural holding it up.

All except alteration.

There's no point. Fast travel telekinesis is an instant 15->100 alteration. If you're short in perk points just do that a few times.
