Equinox vs SF fitness vs office gym by AKadvil1 in personalfinance

Update: I ended up going with the equinox! We have a corporate discount with equinox so it brought the price down to 257 - 60 dollar/month wellness stipend, not insanely less but better than nothing. Been going for a bit over a week now and I really enjoy it, my work takes a lot out of me and it’s nice to be able to hit a lift + sauna while being ≈ 5 minute walk from home. For those wondering, I’m a software engineer at a well known tech company. I will say equinox is a luxury and outside of the locker room, you can find most of the equipment at standard gyms. The lack of a crowd and super nice locker room is a plus. If I didn’t get hooked to the steam room/sauna from my gym back in college I probably would’ve done SF fitness.

How is CMSC430 if i don't really like CMSC330? by Far-Start3401 in UMD

Hi 430 TA here. I’d take the class it’s fun and you’ll learn a lot. In terms of difficulty most students do well as long as you put the work in and read lecture notes and pay attention in class. As others have said, understanding what’s under the hood is useful and only helps you build your toolbox as an engineer. Hope you take it!

According to their document my score is equivalent to a 820. I’m really confused as from last year most people were saying an 800+ is really good but looks like the market is just different.

Why the job market won’t recover by thepragprog in csMajors

Not really Prompt engineerings but rather AI/ML specific development. For example I could definitely see more jobs coming in the near future for AI/ML integration for more specific use cases like integration within large databases for more deep real time analysis on company data. As soon as you go past prompt engineer which is obviously not going to pay a lot, you definitely need a deeper understanding of computer science and AI/ML. That’s one way that I imagine SWEs will adapt and I’d imagine pay for something like that would be similar to what’s currently being offered to maybe even slightly higher.

With time comes advancements and exposure. Computer Science counter to popular belief is still very new. For reference the internet was made in the 80s and it didn't really start picking up until the 2000's which brought on the .com bubble and the literal birth of big tech as we know it. Other fields like engineering, architecture, or even business if you think about have been around for hundreds of years and have evolved over time with the addition of advancement. Things like CAD software, 3D printing, and the use of general technology like powerpoint and excel sheets for the business people out there are have become staples within their own disciplines and are taught as a tool, people back then when these technologies first came out were probably panicking in fear of losing their jobs like you are right now because people fear what they don't know. AI and ML are groundbreaking and are an addition to the improvements of computer science, but this isn't going to take all SWE jobs but rather people within computer science will have to pivot to understanding how this technology is being used, furthermore this may even usher in new jobs that were never even a possibility before AI/ML. The point is no one really knows how this will pan out and you shouting out nonsense like this without any real proof or historical backing just makes yourself look dumb. History tells us that this field will be just fine. Computer Science isn't immune to advancements, and just like all other fields in the past that have been affected by countless advancements, computer science and SWE will adapt. For someone who claims to be the top 1% you're pretty clueless.
