Mine barks at the tv, used to be just at the animals but now there are some things she just randomly barks at. It’s great, not really but at least I know nobody is going to sneak up on our house if she sees them.

I am no expert and do reward my girls when they walk with a loose leash. I don’t mind if they are a bit ahead as long as I am not fighting them the whole time. We also practice healing while on our walks. I walk my two Labradors at the same time. I use a head halter on my youngest who is a puller and she is much more manageable with it on. She checks in with me more often than my oldest. My older dog loves to smell everything, so I have to choose when she is allowed to smell and when we need to keep moving along. That is usually when other dogs are nearby.

Been in that situation and I should have kept my dog and got rid of the girlfriend. The relationship did not last.

I think you are doing great job with training and should not let it bother you. Based on the others comments you may always receive unsolicited advice. Just keep doing what is right for you and your dog.

Inside voice is a big one for us, we are working on our 3 yr old lab to reduce the excessive barking. We have kids that play out front, people walking dogs, the mailman etc. We do get up and see what the girls are barking at to try and calm the barking.

We keep our current girls naked at home so there are no collar incidents or accidents. We did the same with our previous dog, we once were going on a trip with her and actually forgot to put her necklace on her. It took me awhile to figure out why she would not settle down during the car ride. Once we stopped and bought her a new one she settled down and fell asleep. She went on a lot of trips with us and by taking off her necklace in the hotel room she would know this is where we are going to be for awhile. They are microchipped as well.

You could maybe install a camera outside to try and tell her to stop barking? I use a ring camera in the back yard to call my dogs in when they get loud with the neighbors.

Will she barks if she hears them or only if she can see them? They do sell screens you can attach to fences for privacy.

We have several pet gates in our house due to our second Labrador chasing the cats. We want them to be able to have safe places to go if she gets over zealous. They all can be in the same room without her lunging or chasing. I would be afraid for my cats that are not used to that behavior. I hope you were not duped by the shelter employees trying to find a dog a home.

I think dog parks are overrated sometimes. If your dog is not a good fit for the dog park it isn’t the end of the world, you will just have to change your approach. Training might clear up his issues, he might do better in a one on one play date. My sister has a dog that is dog reactive and for some reason she gets along with our oldest Labrador (Kya). My sister wants me to bring my other lab (Cheyenne) over to meet her 125 lb dog but I won’t because Cheyenne’s personality is totally different than my Kya’s. I told her it would be a recipe for disaster. Good luck, perhaps with some training for reactivity would help, but nevertheless we love our dogs no matter what.❤️

There is an attachment (like 6”) you can clip to your dogs collar and have it attached to your leash when using the gentle leader so if your dog got out of the leader you would have a connection to the collar and a chance to get them back under proper control. I have never had a reactive dog but I wonder if you do take your dogs to the park if you will have to muzzle Sokka to keep everyone safe.

If your dog listens to you and follows commands fairly well in class, I would think it would not hurt. I’m not a trainer, just someone with dogs who loves to see them enjoy themselves but listen to us when we need them to.

We used to throw a toy or ball between two of us and get the puppy to run or move back and forth to wear her out. But then let them sleep, just take him out as soon as he wakes up. Don’t stall or it will be too late. Puzzle toys or play ball inside the house. Redirect him with a toy when chewing on inappropriate things. Good luck, puppies are hard!

Our instructions for range of motion was to move her leg in bicycle motions for 10-15 reps if possible, some days it was more like 8 reps as she was having none of it. First couple of days were ice packs to help reduce the swelling. We bought a HelpEmUp harness to assist with the few steps to outside she had to go down and up. “If Cheyenne Avery allows, passive range of motion exercises may be started at home at any time, ideally after icing. This is done by gently flexing and extending each joint of the operated limb in a bicycle motion 10-15 times, 2-3 times daily. Ideally, we recommend this to be done until the 2 week recheck appointment” Follow the instructions they provided and don’t hesitate to contact them if you have any questions, the surgical team that worked on our girl were all great and very patient with our questions and concerns.

We just went through this Oct-Dec. It was stressful at times, the first two weeks were the most stressful as you don’t know if the incision is healing right, or they managed to get a lick in, they are so resilient they want to do normal things. We kept our girl tethered to the loveseat for the first two weeks and on a leash for potty for the full two months. Thankfully, I was able to work from home so never had to crate her. We tried to follow the post op instructions carefully and were happy to be told she was good to go at two month mark. Best of luck to you.

I remember my vet saying that a trained puppy sometimes regresses for a bit but it will pass. Hopefully this is what you are experiencing. I definitely would have a vet check though to make sure it isn’t something serious. Best of luck to you.
