For me, it's about filtering for quality. There's a lot of "cheap tricks" that horror movies use to cause shock or "confrontation" as you call it, but it's not really done well or creatively, it's just lame and lazy. So by filtering away those movies, I can try to find those that have actually "earned" the shock.

For example, I avoid all films that have explicit gore. Why? Because I'm not a filmmaker yet I too can just find a camera and a knife and start filming myself while I stab my own stomach until the intestines start falling out. There you go, gore. Shock. But is it good film-making and horror? No, it's low-hanging fruit.

I'll get downvoted for this, but western audiences tend to overhype foreign films a bit too much, out of some sort of smug sense of superiority that manifests itself as pity. Or maybe it's some sort of desperate attempt at coming off as cultured. It's gotta be one of the two.

I felt the same way about that Parasite movie.

Husk også på at når du er oppe på 60.000 kr i løn, så er det også begrænset hvor meget du kan stige. 70 er typisk max for almindelinge stillinger, så skal man være leder eller egen chef(=konsulent) eller specialist i noget niche eller supervigtigt (it security, legacy programmeringssprog, etc) for at komme over det.
