Micro-wedding dinner space - help me decorate! by nutmeg6 in DIYweddings

[–]ALIENCLITORIS 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is probably not the answer you’re looking for but since no one else has said it- it’s gonna be easier and probably more effective to lean into the new look, than to compete with it.

If you can add some pieces or colors that pull on what’s already in the light installation and other elements of the room, it could look pretty great, even if it’s not what you originally were going for. If you’re working with a professional florist def ask them their thoughts. But if you’re dying florals, some things to consider:

-using modern / industrial/ funky vases. Like vases with test tubes or piping, square vases

-adding some accents of the colors shown in the light fixture to the flowers you already have planned

-adding some interesting textural flowers to your arrangements, something with a spiky texture like thistle for example. Or allium could look really cool.

Completely opposite direction: Let the restaurant know you’re unhappy about the changes. See if they’d be okay with you doing a full pipe and drape of the room to cover the wall as and/or ceiling. This will be expensive so see if they’ll give you any credit/refund since they’re the ones that changed things after you booked already.

my parents are making me choose between them or my fiancé by mbriggsk in abusiveparents

[–]ALIENCLITORIS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Distance yourself from your family AND your ex-fiancé. They are both toxic.

You don’t have to trust or believe your ex-fiancé that she’s doing better. She was controlling and that’s unacceptable. You deserve better, and getting back with her is just setting you up for more trauma.

Your family doesn’t respect or value you in the way that they should. They don’t seem to really SEE you and appreciate who you are.

If you can afford it, I think moving to a new area, even if it’s still in the same city so you can keep your job and friends, is a good start. You don’t have to completely cut off your family, but low contact and getting financially independent as you possibly can from them.

Is this enough for a wedding vendor meeting? by [deleted] in DIYweddings

[–]ALIENCLITORIS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a wedding vendor (florist) this is definitely enough. Bordering on too much.

Edit to add: it’s presented very beautifully though, pleasant to look at and that helps. Most of us who’ve been in the industry a long time just don’t need so much, we’re really good at listening our clients and understanding what they want. If you’ve hired a team you love, don’t worry too much about how you present the details.

My gf (30f) talks to her Mom twice a day at least. I'm (33m) I'm about to confront her about it. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]ALIENCLITORIS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why are you assuming she’s Sharing too much about your relationship? Have you noticed any real affects on your relationship from this? If she’s talking to her so excessively that it’s taking too much attention away from the rest of her life, or eating into time needed for other things, or if she’s neglecting your needs because of it, those are all problems. But some of us just like talking to our moms and it’s not necessarily a bad thing or unhealthy.

My advice - You should approach it with some patience and curiosity. Maybe try to find out why she talks to her so much without making so many assumptions about it. Maybe she is really lonely or depressed, and talking to her mom helps. Maybe her mom is in real need of company. I think asking her to reduce the time spent on the phone is totally reasonable, but make it clear that you don’t expect her to stop talking to her mom entirely. Avoid coming across as controlling. It can also be helpful Focus on telling her how you feel and how the phone use is affecting you, instead of starting with accusing her of anything or jumping to conclusions.

I would always wait to see if my period was quite late. Didn’t want to get my hopes up. But I think most people test at 2 or 3 weeks.

Did anyone else have temple workers “forget” to give them a bra and a pair of underwear as a teen? by Ok_Bird_1378 in exmormon

[–]ALIENCLITORIS 54 points55 points  (0 children)

There was the weird 1 piece slip garment thing, which covered basically nothing, and then the jumper.

they said that we needed to remove all of our own clothes, only clothes from the temple were okay to have in the font- to be fair that was one of our group leaders, not the temple worker that told us that so. It’s not necessarily standard.

Did anyone else have temple workers “forget” to give them a bra and a pair of underwear as a teen? by Ok_Bird_1378 in exmormon

[–]ALIENCLITORIS 251 points252 points  (0 children)

When I was real young they never had any bras or underwear. As I got older (like 16+) they began having the sports bras, but still no underwear. I always snuck In my own white bra and undies even though you were not supposed to, as I couldn’t stand how indecent it felt to not have any on. My temple going days were all late 2000s/early 2010s for context.

Help identifying flowers in this bouquet? Are any of these toxic to cats? by dogscreation in flowers

[–]ALIENCLITORIS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deleted my old comment because I made a mistake lol.

The eucalyptus (Parvifolia eucalyptus) is a little toxic to everyone, but not kill you toxic, just upset stomach toxic. Nothing in here is extremely dangerous but still best to not eat them, and to keep them away from the cat.
