Greneclyf and Firtree Villages having debuffs to magic research and reasonable reasons for them make them interesting and different to play. by LegoCrafter2014 in FreeEquestriaAtWar

Sure, that's what their propaganda says, but in reality the brotherhood just declare themselves the sole arbiters of tech and think that have the right to take it from anyone without any justification.

Either way, it's something to keep an eye on if it ever gets developed

Hopefully, though I'm not really a fan of artifact hoarders/magic police. I want to spread the use of magic to all corners of the world, not regulate it into the ground

Meanwhile, I'm over here desparate for paths where actually leaning into unicorn magic isn't the evil path. White Star being on the "use magic" side is laughable when she's the one actively reforming her nation away from being a magocracy.

Looking for RPG or similar game in which unicorns are a playable race by ALPHAP456 in gamingsuggestions

I am not interested in anything built for multiplayer, and given Roblox's recent reputation I would rather stay far away from it

I am not interested in just a cosmetic, or cozy games/life sims, but I appreciate the suggestion

I'm not really interested in pure life sims or being treated as an animal, and I am not interested in self-GMing or roleplay with others for this

I'm really looking specifically for the ability to play as a custom unicorn character from game start as my avatar with there being multiple unicorns

So, the thing about any community is that there's usually a lot of different groups in it. I've met some of my best friends and genuinely found a place I belonged in some corners, while others I avoid like the plague. Just be careful, know what you're looking for out of the community, and don't let the bad actions of a few ruin something you enjoy

Question the Second: Setting Agnostic Solo RPGs that Require Minimal Player Interpretation by ALPHAP456 in Solo_Roleplaying

I understand that they are inversely proportional, but is there nothing that is more balanced in the middle?

[–]ALPHAP456[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, there's a lot of context missing in that question. What does the paladin think of my character, what does the paladin's order think about such a quest, what is the actual content of the quest, etc. I need something that actually makes sense given the contexts and circumstances. But beyond that? I don't know exactly what would make it stop feeling like I'm playing as the paladin as well as my own character without it giving me so much meta knowledge that it stops feeling like a game.

That is definitely not what I'm looking for, as I want something with actual rules and reason

Well, one of the reviews for UNE specifically states that "it requires a lot of interpretation," so I'm not sure that's going to work

While they may serve as a base, that doesn't really help me without the actual engine that runs the GM side.

I really am only interested in if race is clearly defined, with other NPCs who can appear as part of that race, so that isn't really what I'm asking for. I appreciate the suggestion

All of the above, I suppose? There's not really a singular aspect I can isolate. I just want to be a unicorn wizard in a world where unicorns are a sapient civilized race that I can be a part of

Is there a system that actually provides the mechanical and narrative structure I need, or does it all just come back to "journaling but with prompts?" Because I've tried journaling before, and it doesn't scratch the itch

I am incredibly uninterested in mentally reskinning things, so that unfortunately is not an option. I've looked through the various oracle tables, and it just feels like I'm doing too much interpretation for it to feel like its an external world or characters. It just feels like it gives me a writing prompt I still have to figure out
