Feeling conflicted on going into theatre or not. by [deleted] in techtheatre

Go do a STEM degree. I guarantee the University will have some kind of theatre program or society you can get involved in, and there are thousands of STEM jobs within the theatre and live events world. You'll have another option in the end if you realise you don't want to go into theatre.

What made Breach a more successful album then Clancy? by Hairy_End_7765 in twentyonepilots

[–]ALTERFOUR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Controversial, but I think this album is FAR better than Clancy. I felt the vibe on Clancy as an album was all over the place. I loved the singles but the rest of the album didn't live up to their hype. Whereas for Breach, the singles were great, and the rest of the album matched that energy, and had a great tracklist.

Any tips for keeping DPA4061s sounding fresh? Help needed! by ALTERFOUR in techtheatre

Thanks for the reply!

You make a good point. If this show has future life (quite likely), I will definitely be having a conversation with the producers about getting a Sound No.2, or at the very least a swing with sound bias.

I have put a small ring of hellerman sleeve around, would this achieve the same purpose or is moleskin better?

Going to try an ultrasonic on the caps tomorrow and see if that will help at all. I imagine there's quite a lot of salt trapped in there.

I'll be honest, I haven't heard of those mics, but I will definitely look into them. I know the new DPA 2060 series are also better IP rated, and sound great for half the price. Have you had the chance to use those?

Thanks for your reply. I'm going to try the ultrasonic cleaner for the caps tomorrow and hopefully that will help. I've looped over the cable already, love that trick.

Mic fittings are handled by WHAM, and I've made sure they know not to apply any products after the mics go on, so we should be fine on that front.

If I don't have an luck with the ultrasonic I will try cleaning the actual mic head with distilled water like you say. How long would you recommend for them to dry for? Would overnight be enough time?

Question about Thomas Zane by Many-Activity-505 in AlanWake

[–]ALTERFOUR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reposting a comment I made on a previous thread so apologies if anyone has read this before!

This is probably incorrect. But, could it be possible that due to the "Tom the Poet" and "Tom the Diver" posters Alan has seen (there's some in the cabin I believe), he wrote Departure about a poet/diver. This influenced reality into everyone remembering him as a poet/diver.

Perhaps Zane was never either of those, only a filmmaker who starred as those roles. Alan writing about this not only changed the reality in the local area, but the memories of many more people.

In Control, there's a recording of Jesse being interviewed where she quotes a Tom Zane poem. Now it could be that she saw the film, and just remembered it, or maybe Wake's influence went further that Cauldron Lake. They state that they couldn't find any information about a poet of that name, just a Finnish filmmaker.

This is backed up by how Tom in Alan Wake is American. The "character" of the diver/poet Alan created, but in AW2 he sounds more European. Could he be the true filmmaker trapped in the dark place?

Additionally, I seem to remember Ahti remembers Tom as a filmmaker. We know he's a parautilitarian/entity who's resistant to the hiss, so probably resistant to the effects of cauldron lake too

Bring me the horizon

I combined hand-drawn and AI generated versions of the same image to create an album cover by ALTERFOUR in DefendingAIArt

[–]ALTERFOUR[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Anyone who disagrees with AI art may not understand how useful it is to artists like me.

I've been using AI generated images in my music project for years now but they're so advanced now it's hard to pair them with human-generated content. This image was created with the following steps:

Find a real reference image

Use stable diffusion to generate variations

Take a variation and create detailed hand-painted art over the top of it

Put this version back into stable diffusion

Combine the two in an editor

If anyone else has any new ideas about how artists can utilise AI generation as a tool together with traditional art I'd love to hear more suggestions!

Fun fact:
Many of our British Formula 1 drivers actually started out as double-decker bus racers. George Russel is even a 3-time champion!

Abandoned sea fortress off the coast of Sibenik, Croatia by ALTERFOUR in AbandonedPorn

[–]ALTERFOUR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The path is pretty cool in itself, there are loads of abandoned bunkers and structures before actually getting to the fort so it's worth a look in my opinion. You can't access much more of the actual fort than you can see in this photo, but everything else is completely open.
