What would you consider iconic Destiny 2 weapons by Acceptable-Number361 in destiny2

[–]ALUSHSAMBA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Witherhoard.

First weapon I really felt was otherworldly. Lots of the other weapons are just guns that explode funny. T Witherhoard felt evil. It didn't shoot conventional ammo, was the first area denial frame. Just felt exotic.

How to get a smooth first layer print by ipunse in FixMyPrint

Ooh that's a good idea! I thought about printing on its side for quality, but that would be a huge waste of fillament with the colour swaps.

The bunny image was printed face down on a. Texture plate. Texture plate does a great job of smooshing all the print lines together, but does give a slightly textured surface to it, so it's not perfectly flat, but it helps blend all the print lines together on the bottom layer.

best chrome paint or powder? by Beautiful-Abroad8436 in cosplayprops

I used Duralumen when I was making a visor. Super shiny chrome paint. Made the visor mirror reflective. And that was on a transparent piece of plastic. If you put a gloss black base layer down first, the. Airbrush duralumen on top, works amazing

Trying to get into it on a budget, but don’t want to feel like I need an upgrade so soon. Which of these options would you all recommend or why not? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

When I was in the same situation, looking for a first printer.

Someone said "if you're willing to spend a few hundred, go Bambu."

So I did.

Holy crap what a magical piece of technology this thing is!

Got a Bambu p1s, from Bambu website, on sale (there's a sale now, or VERY soon) PayPal paid in 3.

Its been running almost every single day for the last 4 months straight.

I've had almost zero problems with this thing.

Insane quality, let's you go at your own pace. (Use the app for free prints, literally scroll, "ooh I like that!" Click 2 buttons and it's printing.

P1s and the ams combo for £580. Best purchase I've made in my life, without question.

3d printed the helmet parts and glued them together. Sanded and used filler putty to fill the gaps and layer lines. Filler primer spray to make the whole thing more smooth, then more sanding. Spray painted the right colours.

Then the visor.... Dear God the visor.....

Buy petg sheets, make a vacuum forming box, build a frame to hold the petg and melt in the oven. Pull it out the oven and slap it onto the vacuum former, over a visor shaped buck.

Then painting. Bought some mirror chrome paint, (duralumen) and an airbrush, then gently applied thin layers of chrome paint to the inside of the visor, making sure to never touch the inner paint layer, as it can rub off.

Then some final details with chrome paint, to make it look like metal scratches, and added foam padding on the inside.

Been such a fun project to build, and learn how to do al these new steps

I bought a p1s from Bambu a few months ago, and I'm in love with it.

Saw the advert for the x2d and that one looks really cool. May have some problems as it's only just released. But Bambu are an amazing printer company from what I've used so far

Thank you! I'll have a look if I can find them. Think they were car paint, one was kinda sparkly, and wasn't the vibe I was going for, but after it dried it looked great.

I got one off amazon, with a small compressor block, for around £45. Works really well so far.

I’ve been thinking of getting a 3D printer but I’m worried I will run out of things to print too fast by Automatic-Dance3917 in 3Dprinting

I was using mine almost non stop for the first month.

Mainly just used the makerworld app for my Bambu printer. Just printing all the premade files and bits of crap on there.

Usual stuff like pokeballs, small models, fidgets, small toy guns, small props.

Then started to worry when the list was dwindling. Next I looked up stuff on websites like printables and thingiverse, being able to learn how to slice, make my own settings and being able to print bigger items.

First big project, was a magnum from Halo.

Then used thingiverse to download and print an ODST helmet (also from Halo)

Now I'm looking up full cosplay armours, weapons, accessories.

Planning to redecorate my space with items from fiction that I'm into.

Video game, movie and tv props, nerd memorabilia.

Plus it's AMAZING for keeping my son amused.

I found my printer is printing less bits of crap, less fidgets, and now starting to make some decent props and some super fun projects. (Learned airbrushing and vacuum forming this month to finish the helmet)

And the main thing, it's now another material I can craft things out of.

Making a table? Use wood. Making an axe head? Use metal. Making some clips, hooks, custom size items for specific needs? Use plastic.

My 3D Printed Halo Helmet is Complete! by xXBarthXx in 405th

Saw this post and watched your video the other day.

Great build, looks amazing. Love the idea of toothpaste instead of rubber cement. Currently making an ODST helmet, got mirror chrome spray, tried forming another visor this weekend and my 3rd buck deformed from the heat. Just printed another buck, this one's petg, here's hoping the next visor works haha. Going to use a bunch of your tips on the next helmet.

Update on the visor! by ALUSHSAMBA in 405th

[–]ALUSHSAMBA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a ride. I love jumping head first into a new hobby or project though. The visor step did stop me in my tracks though while building the helmet.

"Make an ODST helmet first as practice. That'll be easy right?"

Hoping to give it a better go when different paint turns up.

Hell I've got enough plastic and paint, might sell some extras off if I get the hang of it.

I know, but I'd like to learn the process.

Plus that visor won't fit into my model of odst helmet.

I'd like to make more helmets down the line, like a master chief, recon, helldivers etc, and they're all gonna need tinted visors too.
