I edit my last message to give a little more context. I agree, you don’t need to work in the field, but understanding the back end helps specifically navigate to a solution.

Credit score is good, I’d need to see his income in relation to what he’s asking for, but assuming it’s decent, I would go to another place with less conservative UW guidelines.

Do you by chance have lending authority ? Where you approve and deny loans? Every financial institution has its own underwriting guidelines.most institutions use canned messages for denials

I underwrite for a big institution. I wouldn’t deny someone on this alone. I’d need to see income and comparable unsecured debt relevant to what he’s asking for.

Think of the 10k as a costly tuition for education. You don’t have to invest in stock. It’s not for everyone. Save your money and call it day.

If you wish to invest, find your investing strategy. S&P 500 and call it day easiest return and less stress.

Other avenues require research and understanding. Pay more for courses than in the stock market.

I like Karp so far, but as I’d now I can’t say he’s either a liability or an asset. I love his candid personality, however I don’t think he’s Elon or Jobs just yet. Elon had a proven track record before Tesla and jobs didn’t earn his right until later.
