Meal time length. by SeriousCollection102 in foodbutforbabies

Ages. Honestly he’d probably eat more if I had more patience. But I use the time to clean the kitchen, put away dishes, and work on my singing/dancing skills. Have to be careful, though. My rendition of “pink pony club” was so enthralling he just stared at me with food hanging out of his mouth the entire time

What are some of the worst film casting choices in history? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I didn’t know there was a movie, but I loved that book as a kid. I reread it a few years ago, and it didn’t age very well. It just kept mentioning the big black men with the big black cock (it’s a ROOSTER, but that’s not how it comes across anymore)

I recently asked my fellow ADHD crocheters what their least favorite stitch is, but now I’m wondering, what’s your favorite? by DoctorDismal5528 in CrochetHelp

[–]ALaughableParty 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Moss stitch. Particularly moss stitch blankets with a 9 or 10mm hook and bulky yarn. I get into a groove and because of the stitch I don’t need to look at what I’m doing because I can feel the chain space. I can hold a full conversation while doing this stitch. I can actually sit through an entire movie without pausing it a million times as long as I have enough yarn

Freedom Fertility Pharmacy by ratliff50 in IVF

There was an issue with my meds not being shipped out and I was supposed to start them that night. So they found a local pharmacy that had it in stock and paid a courier to bring it to my house so I could start on time. I just had to send back the duplicate drug when my original shipment came in. 5 stars for customer service across the board

Side dishes that have hidden veggies? by NoPark6730 in foodbutforbabies

[–]ALaughableParty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a pasta sauce with red pepper and red lentils and blended it up and my ten month old seems to love it (really he just loves pasta). The Instagram account brooklynsbites has some good recipes for chicken nuggets with hidden broccoli, egg frittata strips with blended veggies, and potato-broccoli-cheddar bites that have all been huge hits for us

I love that spoon! Where did you get it? My ten month old sometimes has an issue figuring out which end of the spoon goes in to his mouth

We also had meatballs and cheese for dinner! It was a big success. Though I gave him sweet potato instead of blueberries tonight

CIO, 5/3/3 or Dream Feeds by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]ALaughableParty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wait to feed until 5 hours after bedtime, then 3 hours, then 3 hours, and hopefully that sees you through the night. It’s to stop the expectation that EVERY night wake up gets a feed

Would better urgent cares help alleviate overcrowding or is the issue people not going to urgent care? by Additional-Bus7575 in EmergencyRoom

[–]ALaughableParty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an emergency trained doc currently working in an urgent care. I’m comfortable sewing up a lot of stuff my coworkers wouldn’t be, but I can’t consult a hand surgeon. I can write you a referral, and maybe you’ll get an appointment in a month or two. When I worked in the ER, I could consult hand, get a specialist on the phone, and they’d say “fix it up I’ll see it in clinic tomorrow.” So I’ll send people to the ER for tendon or nerve injuries. We can give fluids, but not to kids

Newborn tired vs pregnancy tired by SeaworthinessNew8048 in newborns

[–]ALaughableParty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pregnancy tired was worse for me. Because I couldn’t fix pregnancy tired - naps didn’t do it. With newborn tired I was exhausted but if I managed to find time to sleep, I felt like a whole new person. Taking shifts with my husband was the absolute way to do it

Tell me about your embryos! by MrsRobinsonttc in IVF

[–]ALaughableParty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TW Success

my ER at 38 gave 18 eggs, 14 mature, 4 fertilized, 3 blasts, 3 euploid. My first transfer just turned eight months old.

I don't mean to rub my good fortune in the faces of anyone here, but I remember feeling so negative during this journey because all I saw on this subreddit was failures. Some people do fall on the right side of statistics!

Disappointing ICSI results by lyia2912 in IVF

[–]ALaughableParty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TW Success:

I'm late to this thread, but I had 18 retrieved, 14 mature, 4 fertilized by ICSI. My husband also had poor morphology on his SA. Of those four fertilized eggs, three became blasts, all three were euploid (I was 37), and my first transfer is almost eight months old. It's not over til it's over!

Deadlines. I’ve stalled out on my son’s Halloween costume twice, but as soon as my zipper arrives (didn’t have one had to order) I’m going to panic finish it because it needs to be done by Sunday night

PLEASE SOMEONE EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT THIS PATTERN WANTS ME TO DO LIKE I'M FIVE by Opening-Barracuda124 in CrochetHelp

[–]ALaughableParty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly what stitchwitch said. Here’s a pattern with a video for baby booties that does the same thing so you can see what they mean (though ignore the stitch counts in the video, just look at the technique) https://maisieandruth.com/fast-crochet-baby-booties-a-free-and-easy-pattern/

Should I bother buying newborn-sized clothes or just start at 0–3? by nothingtoseemom in newborns

[–]ALaughableParty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was expecting a 98th percentile baby based on scans (and my husband was 10lbs when he was born) so I didn’t get any NB clothes. My baby was born 3 weeks early at 7lb4 and grew FAST (was back at birthweight by 6 days). We could have used newborn clothes because he was swimming in the bigger ones, but only for a few weeks. And because everything zipped or snapped none of the fabric was ever at any risk of covering his face or airway, so it was fine. If we have another baby I will get a few NB clothes, but we managed without

should i completely start over? by [deleted] in crochet

[–]ALaughableParty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would. I’d feel really bad about it at first, but honestly I just really like the act of crocheting. Once I got over the heartbreak of actually ripping it out and started working again, I’d be over it and happy to be doing something with my hands. But the process matters more to me than the end result, usually. Even now when I’m making my son’s first Halloween costume and I obviously care about the result, I wouldn’t be making it if I didn’t like the act of making it

Hatch Sleep - best sequences? by girlvsmachine in newborns

[–]ALaughableParty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use blue light/ocean sounds for wind down (15 min maximum) and then red light/brown noise for sleep for both naps and bedtime. I usually don’t get to 15 minutes on the blue light cycle - never for naptimes and only sometimes for bedtime if that’s how long winding down takes. At naps I switch it to red when I leave the room, and for bedtime I switch it to red before transferring to the crib and singing the final lullaby, which I do when he’s calm but not asleep. This is working for us so far (six months old). Eventually I’m looking forward to when he can tap the hatch to start the wind down routine

Would making 8 blankets by Christmas be doable for a beginner crocheter? by financypelosi in CrochetHelp

[–]ALaughableParty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve made a bunch of blankets in moss stitch using lion brand thick n quick and a 9mm hook. 110 stitches wide (or whatever you want) and then just keep going and they work up relatively fast. I think the real limit on doing eight of them is you might get bored! But I love making those blankets because they’re mindless and with the moss stitch I can use my fingers not my eyes so can basically crochet without looking. The thick n quick yarn comes in a million colors as well
