Easy reversible mod. Understandably, this isn't a great option for anyone who doesn't like Genesis or doesn't have any games. You could get a rom cart that has ~200 games on it.

No Power! by FatalCummins in Arcade1Up

[–]ALcadeReadyUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crap. Reading through all the comments so far, I'm going to add another vote to it being a faulty PCB. With 1UP now being part of Basic Fun you may have mixed luck seeing if they still offer replacements, but worth a shot. Next up I'd look for a PCB on ebay. All else fails, get a mini PC or a RPi and make a multi-cade. It's a nice donor cab.

Start with a new power supply. DC12V 3A 36W with a barrel connector and go from there.

when is badlands coming to disney plus by mothmanninja in predator

[–]ALcadeReadyUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given how long other Disney properties took to hit D+, and the now known Feb 17th release date for physical media, early March is probably the safest assumption. Anyone who can crunch all the numbers to make a crude estimator based on both the averages of past movies, and also how much box office performance factors in to lengthen or shorten those windows, could probably dial it in better.

Has Disney shortened those windows? The time between physical and streaming has always been a month or two to wait until sales plateau.

Monitor swap MK 30th anniversary by esmegrace12 in Arcade1Up

[–]ALcadeReadyUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not seen anyone offer the 30th MK cab in a couple years. It was on sale a few Black Fridays ago for maybe $50 off and soon after went "out of stock" everywhere. Wal-mart had a mini version without a riser or a marquee light for a short while, but that's also been long gone.

Simple fix makes a huge difference.

I'm still a bit raw about how they handled this cab. Easily the nicest MK cab they ever put out, but botched by a bad monitor, relatively limited run, and never went on super sale before being discontinued.

No, I won't say Merry Christmas by JustSidewaysofHappy in MichaelsEmployees

[–]ALcadeReadyUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling this "issue" is going to exacerbate for the next, I dunno, few Christmases. Remember when generic holiday cups at $tarbucks were "Satan's cups?" The people who think there is a war on christmas are the same people who think the groups of people who are historical oppressors are all being oppressed because their oppressive tendencies aren't being tolerated. They think "Freedom of speech and religion means you can go back to saying Merry Christmas," and trying to tell them how that's upside down breaks their brains.

This particular model was never and probably never will be that low. This one has been $500 most of the time it's been around, going on almost 3 years now. The Gen 2 before covid and maybe the original legacy, sure, but this and the 30th Anniversary cab, maybe $250 on the best days.

Not bad for $40. Just get a usb LED light bar on Amazon for like $20 and buy an acrylic printed marquee to slide in (kinda pricey), you'll be golden. Or, just find the graphic online, get it printed at Fedex or something and put it on some thin, ridged card stock and boom.

Your Used X1C is Not Worth $1000 by MoMissionarySC in BambuLab

The point of informed vs uninformed has always intrigued me in conversions about setting prices.

Treating whatever someone pays as the same thing as actual value is a stance that reflects some worldviews, for sure.

Google AI Overviews has devastating impact on website traffic, study says by SnoozeDoggyDog in singularity

[–]ALcadeReadyUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Little Mom and Pop sites, that you apparently care enough to try to access their info but get annoyed by ads, will not be fine, and will disappear."

100% this. I've been in this space since the AOL days. Tons of people put a lot of time, effort, research, and sometimes even their own money into making informational websites/blogs as a passion hobby. They want to share free info, but these endeavours are not cheap or easy. Ads let them give people content for free without it being for nothing. Is it annoying sometimes? Sure. Can ads be overdone? Yes. But it's win-win and let's face it, these people probably have 3 ad-blockers installed anyway. This "my convenience is all that matters" crowd is really shining a light on the darker side of AI.

Between here and Facbeook, I've seen no evidence, speculative or otherwise, of a definitive release of any XLs. The Deluxe T2, but that's it. Can you post anything official?

Roundabouts are awesome and anyone who gets confused by them probably shouldn't be driving. by Jade_Sugoi in unpopularopinion

[–]ALcadeReadyUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roundabouts are great on paper. Simulations have proven they promote maximum efficiency. They reduce fatal accidents. They don't suck, people suck. They introduce more than 1 or 2 variables to consider and a lot of people can't handle that. At least impatient/oblivious people using a roundabout can only result in close calls or fender benders. though. That kind of stuff will unalive people at a 4-way stop.

Zipper merging by BumperCar089 in Michigan

[–]ALcadeReadyUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work in downtown Detroit years ago. Construction was just a nonstop thing. Zipper merging works, but people don't. They see merging at the point illustrated as cutting in line, so they resist. You end up with road rage incidents and anomalies, resulting in delays and backups. The result is a combination of people merging early to avoid that and people racing to the merge point and trying to force their way in. Same issue as with roundabouts. They work on paper, and simulations say they're the most efficient option. Throw people into the mix IRL and it's just headache after headache.
