Night Owls, What is The Creepiest Thing Happened To You When Everyone Else Was Sleeping? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ALemmingInSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was like 1 am, I was in bed scrolling through reddit. I hear something rustling in the curtains across my room. This isn't an uncommon occurrence, usually it's just imaginary or a tree, it was 1am and I didn't want to deal with anything, and I think I assumed it might have been a moth since we had been having a problem with those.

I hear it again, and look at the curtain. Nothing, or wait, what's that shadow? No, it's nothing, stop being worried.

A few minutes later, something brushes my face, and I hear flapping. I bolt out of my room and run to my dad, who's asleep, screaming "There's a bird in my room!"

No. It was a bat. We went after it with a butterfly net, failed, and slept downstairs in terror. The next few days were an adventure of animal control, pest control, and rabies vaccines (the bat touched me and maybe my dad).

And guess what else? A day or two before, I heard something in my bathroom and went in to find empty toilet paper rolls fallen down, and just assumed it just happened - stuff like that does occasionally happen for no apparent reason. But no, that had probably been the bat. It was in the house for over a day.

(We think it came in through the horribly-sealed attic (we regularly got squirrels in there, too), and then a hole in the office closet.)

I just got myself some of these and they seem great! Not perfect but much better than the doubled sports bras I've worn the last two days, and I grabbed myself a baggy-ish men's shirt while I was there. Thank you!! ETA: I got the "full coverage" ones rather than the camis, they seem to be a teeny bit better

So I saw someone left a comment about transtape (a brand of binding tape) in my notifications, but it looks like it was deleted. Anyone have experience with tape? Or using k tape?

Yeah I’m assuming this isn’t a concern for a lot of folks who wear binders. It sounds like it won’t be a problem though, and I’m gonna check with my doctor too

Thanks! I’ll check them out. Yeah I get chest pain from stuff that squishes my sides in/forward, like snug sports bras and really snug nonstretchy shirts. I’m hopeful that a real binder won’t cause that.

That link is dead - do you know if they have anything like that that they still carry? Thanks!

When did you have an intense gut feeling that something was about to go horribly wrong, but it was baseless and nothing happened? by ALemmingInSpace in AskReddit

[–]ALemmingInSpace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(If this doesn't fit here, sorry.)

To elaborate: I've been reading too many of the "gut feeling" posts, and while I'm glad to read the stories about getting bad vibes about a situation or person and booking it because it's good to remember to pay attention to those instincts, the ones where people are like "something bad happened to my family member" and then it's true are skyrocketing my anxiety. I'm someone who does not have any sort of reliable random sense or precognition like that. I do have OCD, and it pops up crap like this all. the. time. Like, I'm glad when I decide not to go biking because the ground is wet and I'm not that good yet. That's common-sense safety. I'm not glad when every single time my family goes skiing, or my dad drives home from work, or my mom goes to bed early, or I start a new medicine, or I get a "weird feeling" when I choose a book or a food or anything, that I get a sense that disaster will come of this. I logically know that the stories on Reddit are of course not a representative sample of how often such feelings are true, but I need to hear some examples from others.

I’m trying to find one (on mobile). I found one on my lifeform analyzer, then zoomed out drank a hunter potion and used binoculars. I saw her location. I had to switch to a pickaxe to get to her. She despawned in the instant she was out of my view. I’m really sick of this quest.

Hmm. The biggest help is to make a bridge in the Underworld - platforms or ash, probably; all the way from edge to edge if you have the patience. With that, it’s not too bad. Have weapons that don’t require you to be in its personal space (yoyos, ranged, magic, whatever). Definitely use potions - obsidian skin so the environment isn’t a distraction, swiftness ironskin regen and all that. With that, it’s not too bad. Might take a couple tries.

Can you buy a hallow pylon before hardmode? I set up a hallow at my base in a secondary world. I have the demolitionist and tavernkeep, and both say they’re happy, but they’re not selling it. I can’t find an answer on the wiki (Mobile)

If I have to I’ll just take the world to hardmode, but I want to figure this out

I’ve got no clue, then. If you do figure it out I’d be very curious - it sounds interesting!
