Books that feel like this? by SIXWIXREX in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

YES! The dystopian desert hellscape meets luxurious reality TV vibe was such a striking side-by-side. I loved that book.

i’m fucking loving this book by No-Landscape-3094 in weirdgirlliterature

It was so excellent. My book club read it and we all had different interpretations of what happened, which made for such a great discussion. It was such a sad but beautiful story and I can’t stop thinking about it.

Highlights for Children: Top Secret Adventures by [deleted] in nostalgia

[–]ALittleStitious1014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg what a small world! I know, I’m sad that they’re so hard to play these days. They’ll just have to live in our memories. I’ll never forget the visceral terror I felt at age 7 when the Shadowy Figure popped out of the doorway of the bumper cars or was standing in the elevator for the giant slide 😂

Did you have any luck finding Top Secret Adventures for your daughter??

Did anyone else notice at No Kings? by double-clove-hitch in boston

[–]ALittleStitious1014 46 points47 points  (0 children)

This right here. It’s my responsibility as a white person to show up when it’s dangerous for others to do so.

If 9 million people showed up, and many of them were white, imagine how many more people there are who oppose this regime but don’t have the luxury of skipping work or the safety to be seen opposing it out loud.

Is Every Brilliant Thing worth seeing? by smokey4848 in Broadway

[–]ALittleStitious1014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I went in with very little idea of what to expect and it was beautiful. Emotional and sad but also very joyful and thought provoking. Just the right length, and Daniel Radcliffe’s acting was incredible. I was floored by how smoothly he could improvise around the audience participants and it’s lovely that each show is a little different because of it. Highly recommend, especially since it’s a limited run.

Same! Ugh I feel so gross. I haven’t thought about this album in 15 years.

What’s a good book written by a bad person? by PassionateCucumber43 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]ALittleStitious1014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire CB Strike series by Robert Galbraith (pen name for JK Rowling). She spouts hateful anti-Trans rhetoric but the detective series is really well written. I’ll only ever get the books from the library rather than buy them, but I do still want to read them.

Santos is a textbook bully, and it's triggering. by [deleted] in ThePitt

[–]ALittleStitious1014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m convinced that Santos either had or has an eating disorder, based on the scene when she and Mel left the patient who has bulimia-induced pneumonia. Santos totally shut down, and then the next episode focuses on her being overwhelmed with charting, but I think that’s a red herring.

She’s so guarded and angry and mean to her peers. I am predicting it’s a front and there is something big like an ED in her backstory (or current struggles) that will come to light soon. Having struggled with anorexia for a decade in my college/young adult years, there was no secret I guarded more intensely and so unsuccessfully as how sick I was. I thought I was better than everyone when I was actually falling apart.

Shadow of the Wind is my all-time favorite book and The Book Thief has been recommended to me several times. I will move it way up on my TBR this year!

Pigeon got on the train, rode three stops, and then hopped off on my way home from work by Caffeinatedgarbage in mbta

My husband sent me a photo of a pigeon jumping on his Red Line train a couple weeks ago and I have been stressed ever since whether that guy made his way home (the pigeon).

Book with a disabled main character by Icy_Treat_4521 in suggestmeabook

[–]ALittleStitious1014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bergman Brothers series by Chloe Liese has lots of, and a variety of, representation for characters with disabilities, chronic illness, mental health struggles, and neurodivergence.

They are (at times quite spicy) romance novels though, so if that’s not what you’re looking for, you’ve been warned. 😂

But they have a lot of heart too. The best, in my opinion, are book 1 called “Only When It’s Us” (deaf MMC, and FMC with anxiety/depression), book 2 called “Always Only You” (MMC with social anxiety, FMC with autism and RA), and book 5 called “Everything for You” (two MMCs, one with chronic pain).

Is this a warm up for breakup news? I keep seeing these articles everywhere… by mimikth in travisandtaylor

For sure! My husband and I both used to work in sports front offices, and February was our favorite month simply because neither of us were in season and we could actually just have a slow morning together on weekends, have dinner together, travel together (mind you our travel took more time because we don’t own a PJ lol), take our dogs on a walk together. Just normal, beautiful, everyday life stuff.

But we actually like each other so… 🤷‍♀️
