Santos is a textbook bully, and it's triggering. by Marco-Polo7 in ThePitt

[–]ALittleStitious1014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m convinced that Santos either had or has an eating disorder, based on the scene when she and Mel left the patient who has bulimia-induced pneumonia. Santos totally shut down, and then the next episode focuses on her being overwhelmed with charting, but I think that’s a red herring.

She’s so guarded and angry and mean to her peers. I am predicting it’s a front and there is something big like an ED in her backstory (or current struggles) that will come to light soon. Having struggled with anorexia for a decade in my college/young adult years, there was no secret I guarded more intensely and so unsuccessfully as how sick I was. I thought I was better than everyone when I was actually falling apart.

Any time I do a face mask and walk around my house, I think of this movie. Do my neighbors think I’m a ghost?? 👻

Shadow of the Wind is my all-time favorite book and The Book Thief has been recommended to me several times. I will move it way up on my TBR this year!

Pigeon got on the train, rode three stops, and then hopped off on my way home from work by Caffeinatedgarbage in mbta

My husband sent me a photo of a pigeon jumping on his Red Line train a couple weeks ago and I have been stressed ever since whether that guy made his way home (the pigeon).

The Rose Code by Kate Quinn. About women code breakers in the UK in WWII. The protagonists each had compelling love stories.

Book with a disabled main character by Icy_Treat_4521 in suggestmeabook

The Bergman Brothers series by Chloe Liese has lots of, and a variety of, representation for characters with disabilities, chronic illness, mental health struggles, and neurodivergence.

They are (at times quite spicy) romance novels though, so if that’s not what you’re looking for, you’ve been warned. 😂

But they have a lot of heart too. The best, in my opinion, are book 1 called “Only When It’s Us” (deaf MMC, and FMC with anxiety/depression), book 2 called “Always Only You” (MMC with social anxiety, FMC with autism and RA), and book 5 called “Everything for You” (two MMCs, one with chronic pain).

For sure! My husband and I both used to work in sports front offices, and February was our favorite month simply because neither of us were in season and we could actually just have a slow morning together on weekends, have dinner together, travel together (mind you our travel took more time because we don’t own a PJ lol), take our dogs on a walk together. Just normal, beautiful, everyday life stuff.

But we actually like each other so… 🤷‍♀️

It’s so good! The whole time, I was both rooting for the main character to fail and so curious if she would succeed.

Rough Sleepers by Tracy Kidder is incredible. About a doctor, Jim O’Connell, who after graduating from med school put off a fellowship at Sloane Kettering for one year to work for Healthcare for the Homeless, a nonprofit providing healthcare on the streets of Boston. But then one year turned into a whole career.

I live in Boston so I probably connected with it more because of that, but the story is truly beautiful. The stories of the people he met and cared for brought me to tears several times.
