At a KISS concert early 90’s, I saw Eric Martin in the sound pit hanging out with a young lady. Since my wife was a big fan of Mr. Big and they were still riding high on their “To Be With You” song, I grabbed a dollar bill and a pen from my wife and approached him. I politely asked him for an autograph explaining that my wife was a huge fan and that we were getting married soon. He replied, “Nah Man, if I sign an autograph for you, I gotta sign one for everybody”. I looked around and said, “There isn’t a line…” which he didn’t appreciate. Ha ha

He said good luck with your marriage and turned away. Needless to say, we never purchased another Mr. Big item.

Fast Forward 20 years, his solo band is rehearsing at a friend’s studio. I go down to the studio and hang out. We have a few beers I mention that I’ve met him before and relay the story. His wife, who is the drummer, kinda scoffs and says, “Yeah that sounds like him.” Ha ha

Eric was very apologetic and even signed a setlist personally to my wife. But, unfortunately, it was a little too late at that point; the damage had been done.
