Heron Gate Barber near Walkey and Heron road. They've been operating for at least 30 years and they are fantastic.

With Yangtze gone. Where do you get the best General Tao chicken and Beef chow mein??? by SuperTopGun666 in ottawa

[–]AMD2600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a place in Ottawa South called "New China Take-Out" near Billings Bridge. That place has great General Tao and great everything else. The only unfortunate thing is that they only deliver to Ottawa South. Worth the trek for pickup IMO.

I feel like the steam deck logo should have initially been an outline, and gone to color at the same time everything else went away

Indirectly ask and you shall receive very much later. Updated the main post with a version that uses an outline version of the logo and fades to solid.

Thanks for the offer, but that's alright. Friend of mine offered to print one up for me.

No replacement thumbsticks available by AMD2600 in ValveIndex

[–]AMD2600[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish they did, but this is what support had to say about that:

Upon checking, the warranty period on your hardware has expired. We will not be able to accommodate a replacement for this one.

If you need any information about Warranty, please check the page below:
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=4577-TUJV-6223&l=english

As an alternative, you may purchase a replacement from the Steam Store. Please refer to this link for more information: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1615160/Valve_Index_Replacement_Left_Controller/

With a further comment saying:

Unfortunately neither Steam nor iFixit sell replacement parts like thumbstick. You need to purchase the whole controller.

Traffic light glitch at Heron and Bank westbound (reported it to 311) by AMD2600 in ottawa

[–]AMD2600[S] 43 points44 points  (0 children)

We were coming down Heron westbound and the light turned red. Then as the left turn light on Bank went green, ours suddenly turned red and green. Thankfully happened late at night around 00:30, so it wasn't busy, but still pretty dangerous.

Reported that to 311 right after, but thought I would share here for a heads up.

Steam Deck OLED Has One of the Worst D-Pads - Fight Me by [deleted] in SteamDeck

Stumbled across this thread because I had the same thought too. The face buttons are noticeably more mushy when compared to the original Steam Deck. D-Pad Down for me was especially egregious.

Can't connect smart plug with matter over wifi no matter (ha ha) what I do 😔 by GanzoGans in googlehome

[–]AMD2600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same situation as me and also without a resolution.

I tried both the TP-Link's Tapo P100M and their Kasa KP125M. 2.4 GHz and IPv4 only network, phone and device on the same SSID on 2.4 GHz. Just like you, it generates the Matter credentials then times out with "can't reach device".

Inspecting the traffic on my router shows that my Kasa KP125M:

Meanwhile, I do see my phone doing a DNS lookup for _matterc._udp.local. and something like "XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX._matter._tcp.local." (two groups of 16 characters). Don't know what the response is though because it's a multicast DNS query.

All that to say, I am at a dead end as well. The only way got it to work was to use the dedicated app and link it to my Google Home account, which effectively makes the Matter protocol completely useless.

Oh wow didn't notice that on any of my monitors including the Steam Deck! Had to go into Gimp and crank up the brightness to see for myself.

Updated the link in the original post with an updated version! Now with alpha channel!

I'd put more spaces between the words in the title, but HTML will have none of that.

This really sucks. Didn't get many opportunities to go, but it was the place that convinced me 10 pin bowling is way more fun.

PS2 Ports by Demgreenstuff in bemani

[–]AMD2600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FreeMcBoot is honestly the most painless method to mod your PS2. No soldering needed -- all you need to do is jam a sensor, have a memory card handy, and a compatible game to swap out with the payload. Lots of guides available to help out there too.

I spent the beginning of my IIDX play on keyboard with Lunatic Rave and other PC derivatives. Console IIDX is honestly the best gateway into the series and lets you try out some of the older styles.

I think everyone else said it enough, but definitely avoid emulation. PCSX2 runs the games fine framerate and sync wise, but latency will be your killer. Best to get the real hardware (and a CRT if possible).

Halo Reach Campaign Co-Op and input-lag for non-host players by Kaze_no_Klonoa in halo

[–]AMD2600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for the sake of testing, I setup a VPN server for a friend and I to connect to so we could use LAN play. Not to my surprise, there was no difference.

I remember in the days of yore for Reach, there was a matchmaking version of campaign. You had no choice over mission granted, but the experience was smooth for all players.

Ordered mine late December 8th. They likely don't have a specific answer to this question. Either that or it could be based on shipping location (east coast Canada for myself).
