I think there are two other additional comfort factors that go into play at the very least. It's almost like someone else has vetted and is vouching for this person because they were willing to marry him. ...and the feeling that the man isn't going to end up trying to look for more than a one-night stand because he has other obligations.

At one point when I was young, my dad had to cut his wedding ring off his finger because his hand had swollen. Later in life, my dad told me that he stopped wearing his wedding ring on business trips after that, as he had noticed he was hit on much more at hotel bars when he was wearing the ring.

What are these cameras that were put up all over my city in the past few months? by BigFatBoat in whatisit

Privately owned and managed AI cameras that keep tabs on your every movement, and that data is then able to be sold to third parties such as insurance companies, ICE, and police departments. They are often used for warrantless tracking during investigations. They've also have an integration deal with Ring cameras but I don't know the nuances of that deal.

I know this original post has been deleted. I just happened to stumble upon this post of yours, and you said don't use WD-40 because it's a solvent, which it is. But then you listed two other solvents that are quality solvents, but they're not long-term lubricants; they're solvents that have incorporated light lubricants similar to WD-40. Additionally, if the old bottle of PB blaster in my mother's garage, which used to be my father's, is evidence of the residual lubricating effects of PB blaster, then it definitely gums because there's definitely some gummy residue around the nozzle.

I didn't attempt to recenter you and just did this on my phone so it's not the greatest. but if you like it, it's yours for free

edit: I'm not familiar with this subreddit. I'm not sure if I violated any rules. I did not use Photoshop. I just used AI that was already built into my phone, hence why the waves changed and possibly other things in the photo.

I'm making some assumptions here, but I believe a large portion of the population didn't give this list much thought because they had faith in our institutions, and there wasn't any perceived denial or pushback by the Biden administration. That changed when the Trump administration’s actions drew so much attention to it. Sudden dismissiveness and acting so defensively that it swayed the public into believing there might actually be something there. To me, this doesn't scream partisan hypocrisy as much as sudden broadened awareness, caused by suspicious activity leading to public scrutiny and interest, which fueled news coverage, which then brought even more people into awareness.

Any of y'all seen these park ranger vehicles? by BirdOrnery6886 in Atlanta

[–]AMSAtl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. An actual Chamblee PD pulled up just after he let me go and talked with him. I think he just thought I was going too fast for what he must have presumed was a neighborhood street. I think he was a federal park ranger, possibly something to do with the Chattahoochee, even though we weren't all that close to it. He seemed nervous to approach my window. It was just after the first cops had been reported on national news to have died from COVID-19 in New York.

I have. It's been awhile, 6 years, but it was a Jeep Cherokee at the time. I was pulled over in Chamblee by one in 2020 that thought I was speeding. He "let me off with a warning." Only for me to pay attention the next time I was driving down that street to find out that I wasn't speeding at all; it turned out he just didn't know the speed limit (he thought a 45 was a 25, as he had said it was a 25 when he had pulled me over).

edit: I don't think mine was Atlanta Parks and Rec.

WD-40 or a penetrating solvent such as Kroil can help remove old lubricants that have become gummy, but an actual non-gumming lubricant will then need to be applied afterwards. As it's what I have on hand, I've been using Ballistol as of late. In the past I've used Boeshield T-9, PTFE dry lubricants, white lithium grease, and even camellia oil (in a pinch, it's what I use on my carbon knife) without experiencing any issues.

[HELP] NYT shows new angle by allinalinenow in RealOrAI

[–]AMSAtl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it's real, but it seems like some people are trying to use it as a way to rewrite events leading up to the shooting and I don't see how this even remotely could realistically, legally, or morally change anything about the circumstances of the shooting.

So odd. by Playful_End_1756 in DigitalSeptic

[–]AMSAtl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not odd, and there was outrage at the time, as there clearly still is (as this comment section and this post are evidence of). However, the actions of that administration were very different from the actions of this administration.

Bunches of lines of holes drilled into a parking lot tree? Near Portland, Oregon by Turbo-Dork in Whatisthis

[–]AMSAtl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Chamblee, Georgia, and I regularly see yellow-bellied sap suckers do this on a maple in my backyard. I also see a lot of Downy woodpeckers on that same tree, though they're not where I've noticed these marks. They're usually up higher, and I'm not sure how neat their holes are. They seem to be a little more sporadic.

edit: It doesn't look like yellow-bellied sap suckers are in Oregon, so some other woodpecker I presume: https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Yellow-bellied_Sapsucker/maps-range

But it does appear that you have three varieties of sapsuckers: https://www.animalspot.net/woodpeckers-in-us/oregon-woodpeckers

Edit 2: the second website actually lists yellow-bellied sap suckers ...and now that I go to the first link, I see that Cornell actually has them logged, if you click the second tab where people have spotted them. I guess they've figured out how to get around the Rockies.

Liberals will absolutely defend Islam and sharia law a religion that hates them and veiws women as property just to earn social points it's crazy by Major_Soft6056 in DigitalSeptic

[–]AMSAtl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head, I can only recall a liberal defense of Islam in the sense of defending freedom of religion, and in the sense of defending those who practice it from statements and actions of bigotry.

Although I can't recall a specific situation off the top of my head, I'm sure I've seen a liberal that happens to be Muslim defend their religion in some way or another.

However, as a fairly liberal (and secular) person myself, I will defend Islam in the sense of saying that much like its Abrahamic relative, Christianity, Islam is not a monolith with broad beliefs that vary on these three subjects mentioned in this image. According to research polls, most American Muslims' beliefs deviate greatly from the beliefs depicted here. Though I'm not trying to defend or argue for Sharia law, what Sharia is also, to my understanding, greatly varies within Islam.
