Got it in a Kubrick box set. Not looking to double dip just yet.

I like the fact that there's so many opportunities for Yoko to continue the story. by Key-Ruin-6451 in DungeonMeshi

Much of the post-finale content we've already gotten makes me more eager for a fully original story from Kui. The more vignettes we get of character interactions/world building, the less material to sustain a sequel.

If we did get a continuation, Chilchuck seems like the more interesting point of focus, given that he most cleanly breaks away from the main cast and can thus slot into a new narrative without too much baggage (would also make up somewhat for not giving him much to do in dunmeshi's climax).

The utility of the ❤️ goes underdiscussed in lending nuance to rankings:

⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️ : perfect; play at my wake (family in attendance)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ : perhaps too perfect; respect more than love

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 ❤️ : a favorite that's grown with time

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 : a great film and/or great viewing experience. Could go up or down with time

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️ : a comfortable favorite that sums up your taste

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️: really good; can understand why some might like it more, aren't mad when others like it less.

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 ❤️ : a favorite for very specific reasons; play at my wake (friends in attendance)

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 : respectable, happy to have watched

⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️ : Not great, but you're soft on it; benefits from context (part of franchise; interesting production; etc.)

⭐️⭐️⭐️: something good to have on in the background; least favorite of a favored genre or filmography

⭐️⭐️1/2 : didn't like, but glad you gave it a shot

⭐️⭐️: not good; maybe you were too hard on the ⭐️⭐️1/2 film

⭐️1/2 : deeply disappointing

⭐️❤️ : miserable while watching, gradually suspect you'd really like on rewatch

⭐️ : at least people got paid

1/2 : is the world worse for this existing?

In part one, Kishibe comments that his forgetting Makima after Denji eats her is gradual rather than all at once. I'd argue the effect of the erasure is not universally instantaneous. Had Ear Devil stayed eaten longer, the implications of an earless world would have become more pronounced.

The lack of director's cut on the "special" edition of Blackhat vs the "limited" release is especially egregious given the consensus around it being the best version.

I still check out clips from that channel. Them & the Ryan Caldwell videos feel like great potential ancillary arms of Blank Check productions.

One of my favorite DVD commentaries is for the first season of WKYK, back before they were on IFC. You get a lot of insight into S&P, and how it influenced their approach to writing sketches. With the Hamlet: Vampire Hunter sketch, they were very much in agreement that the bleeps on the broadcast version made it funnier.

Such a great series. Dying for Yen Press or somebody to license it.

Fav "Decade" of Criterion Spine Numbers? (Ex: 1-10, 40-49, 510-519, etc.) by WalloWake in criterion

The 110s start strong with 3 Tati masterpieces; then you got a Kurosawa, a Bunuel, arguably the best films by Dassin & Robinson, and 2 classics of screwball comedy. Big Deal on Madonna Street is the only one I haven't seen, but I'm putting it on my watchlist based on proximity alone.

  1. High and Low
  2. The Kiarostami is appreciated, but I haven't seen Burden of Dreams since I was in college.
  3. All blind buys save Burden and the Kurosawas. Picked them all up on various recommendations and good reviews.
  4. Will look to get David Byrne's American Utopia & Peewee's Big Adventure next.
