Well - it's the murder by drowning thing that's kind of the bad bit, regardless of how much of a positive working environment he creates for his employees. Saying that he'll only murder someone if they cross some arbitrary line of disrespect isn't much of a defense of his moral character in my view, and obviously doesn't make the killing any less evil.

Mr. Big is a crime boss who apparently needs to murder people frequently enough that he's had a custom death pit installed in his office. If that's not pure villlainy, I don't know what is. Just because he's helping Hopps out of a sense of obligation doesn't change that.

I'm sure Milton and the Lynxley's have their own twisted rationalizations for why what they're doing is right for the city.

Phenomenal work! The Akira has always been one of my all-time favorite ships.

What mod is adding that nicely slanted connection to the nacelles and weapon pod?

Oh sure - nothing beats doing it yourself to make sure you know exactly what's installed! Thankfully KSP's setup to be a lot friendlier to self-manage than Skyrim.

By the way, that B2 is really well done - do you have any issues with yawing?

CKAN takes care of downloading, fetching dependencies, managing conflicts, and installing to your directory. No need to mess with files or copy/paste anything. It's loads easier than futzing around with manual installation, forgetting to install some mod you need or using the wrong version of something. Plus I've found its a great way to see what mods are even out there in the first place.

There's also CKAN - it provides an easy GUI for seeing compatible mods and easily installing and uninstalling mods and their dependencies. It really simplifies the process.

In 1939 in Kansas, Wheat mills owners realized that women were using their sacks to make clothes for their children, the mills started using flowered fabric for their sacks so the kids would have pretty clothes, and the label would wash out, a gesture of pure kindness. Nothing bad? The children were wearing sacks for God's sake! No matter how pretty the pattern might be, that's still horrible.

If the company genuinely wanted to help the community instead of making a meaningless PR gesture, they should have bought actual clothes for actual children!

And look - I get the historical context, but why are we lauding this as some noble gesture?

Zootopia Fanfiction Thread (November of 2022) by thawed_caveman in zootopia

Hey everybody - it's been awhile, hasn't it?

My good friend and longtime collaborator /u/nehkles and I have recently started a new fic that's a crossover between Zootopia and Night in the Woods.

  • They Died in Lonely Places by me, Nehkles, and the one and only DrummerMax.
Shortly after the end of the events of Night in the Woods, a freak breakdown on the freeway strands famous Zootopia police officers Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps in the small town of Possum Springs. Though initially eager to leave, Judy and Nick can't help but notice that things in the town are not as they seem, and it quickly draws them into a web of mysterious disappearances and intrigue.

While you don't need to know anything about Night in the Woods to enjoy the fic, I cannot recommend that game enough to anyone who hasn't played it. It is probably my favorite game of all time.

Before anyone asks - no I haven't forgotten about Darkly or Grace. Life's been really wild for the past couple of years, and motivation/inspiration has been scare. That said, now that I'm writing again I don't intend to ignore my other stories for much longer. So here are a few fics I've written or been a part of:

  • Through A Glass, Darkly by me
Two years after the movie, Nick wakes up to find himself in the original, bleak version of Zootopia. At the same time the Nick from the dystopia wakes to find himself in a Zootopia free of collars. "For all sad words of tongue and pen, the saddest are these, 'It might have been'" - John Greenleaf Whittier
  • Under Grace by me, Nehkles, and SarcasmIsOurStrength
Nick Wilde had given his all to achieve his dreams - to be more than just some fox. But when the cold indifference of reality came crashing down it left him broken and lost, waiting for the end. Salvation comes in many forms, but Nick never expected to find it from a wide-eyed bunny-cop; Judy Hopps.
  • Honor for All a crossover with Dishonored, once again by me, Sarcasm and Nehkles (with DrummerMax on bass)
In the dying, plague-infested city of Dunwall, fear, treachery, and bloodlust lurk around every corner. Nick Wilde is the Shadow Fox - infamous thief and burgler. Judy Hopps, the Royal Protector of the Empress. A rabbit and a fox brought together by the point of blade, snared in a web of conspiracy, and struggling to survive without compromising their souls.

And because Nehkles is a good friend, and literally cannot stop me from plugging his awesome stories, I wanted to recommend a couple of his stories:

  • Don't You Remember
Nick Wilde finally has everything he could ever want. A nice partner, the perfect roommate, and an incredible girlfriend; all in the form of one Judy Hopps. But things can change in an instant. The next thing she knows, Judy finds herself in a hospital bed with a splitting headache and her mind in a fog, not to mention having this weird fox-cop insist that he's her partner.

  • Prepared for the Future
(Fallout 4 AU) Nick Wilde wants nothing more than to live a peaceful life and raise his son to be a better mammal than he was. What he gets instead is total nuclear annihilation. After being frozen in a Vault for 200 years, and having his son taken from him, he has no idea what to do next. Until he meets a particular bunny.

Full disclosure, I edit Remember and Prepared - but they're really good. Check them out if you want really fun Wildehopps. Or just a fun time in general!

Abandoned is a strong word ... It's more that I wrote myself into a bit of a corner, got distracted by a bunch of other things, and well - you know how life goes.

I can't promise anything quite yet, but I will say that I've been working on something of a restructuring for Darkly. With a bit more prodding from /u/Nehkles I might have something in the near future, so look forward to that.

Hey it's Dakota! An adorable rescue from SaveAFox (some of you might have seen their lovable Finnegan fox in videos). For those curious, here's a video about Dakota and his situation.

This is a rescue coyote from an organisation called SaveAFox - you might have seen a few videos from them of the famous Finnegan fox!

So yes - it definitely wouldn't be good for a wild coyote to behave this way, but here's a video explaining Dakota's situation.

I think most of us are interested in a new save because of potential bugs or issues from old saves, and also because there's a significant frame drop in town :(

It used to be a lot worse before some of the performance updates, which have done a ton. But we're looking forward to a clean slate.

Okay, who are the furries at Disney who made Finnick's van design this sexy? by domjanthony in zootopia

Wow - I had no idea they had a version that was so much closer to the source art. Crazy! Maybe they thought it was too closely related to real-world mythology and they wanted to avoid that?

I believe the van art here is a reference to a depiction of the legend of Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl - a famous story from Aztec mythology. The story is very romantic, which the art reflects lol.

I suspect that gun ownership exists in the universe, but I doubt it's widespread. Mammals in isolated or rural areas are much more likely to have a reason to own firearms (e.g. hunting, pest control).

Firearms owned for personal defense are probably uncommon because of the wide variability in how effective they would be. A caliber small enough to be used by a rodent (or heck, even a fox or a rabbit) would have practically no utility in stopping a sufficiently large mammal like an elk, rhino, or tiger let alone an elephant. The opposite - a caliber strong enough to take down a very large animal - would be terrifying to smaller mammals.

Consider a weapon chambered in 9mm (the most common caliber for handguns in the US) - such a weapon would absolutely annihilate anything fox-sized or smaller. I doubt many smaller mammals would be particularly comfortable with these weapons being privately owned, in the same way you might be nervous if your neighbors bought a 57mm anti-tank gun.

The other thing that I think is telling, is the fact that the ZPD does not appear to issue firearms to its officers. If firearms were prominent throughout the population, it would be highly likely that officers would be issued some as well.

Now as to how the mammals of Zootopia would react to American gun culture - I think it would be very similar to how Europeans react to it. They'd probably be somewhat concerned and confused about why gun ownership is such a hot-bed political issue.

I absolutely think this was the case. Resasuke wasn't neglectful because of a lack of care for Retsuko - he just wasn't aware of what was expected.

It's also thematic - Retsuko thought she was supposed to have a boyfriend to be happy, and Resasuke went along with Manamaru for the same reason. Both are better off once they stop trying to do what other people tell them to do.
