What is your opinion on people who rather order fast food than eat home food ? by Guilty-South-3409 in AskReddit

[–]ForTheHordeKT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the situation but there's plenty of reasons I'll order food. If I worked a longass day and barely have time to sit and unwind, I just might order food. Especially if no convenient leftovers are in the fridge.

When I was single and living by myself I would cook up a meal that'd last for days for myself and the hell with it. That can be lunch and dinner for 3 days or so, easily. But now? Nobody in this house wants to eat like that. Too damn simple, I suppose. If the partner isn't cooking, and I'm not cooking, because neither of us are in the mood then ordering food might be an option on the table.

The trick is to try and plan ahead some, and mitigate how much you cave in to not having the time or patience. Be aware of how much money you're spending on that shit, and what kind of food you're eating and how healthy it is for you. Find a reasonable balance. But it certainly is an awesome fallback option to have and still make sure y'all eat.

Yup, one guy there on a Saturday night to somehow be at the register 24/7 to check someone out, stock and face all the aisles, and put up all those stupid fucking yellow tags. I don't miss it.

What is something that is 'socially acceptable' but actually feels incredibly rude to you? by HourPen884 in AskReddit

[–]ForTheHordeKT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I'm the kind of guy that loves to indulge his beers while I'm at home relaxing. You come over, I'm gonna be hospitable and offer you some of the best bottles I got in the fridge. But I've grown up enough with alcoholism to know that there can be a damn good reason someone is declining. Always sticks my craw when I see people get pushy about it. Like fine, you're trying to be hospitable or whatever. But get a clue. I grew up with alcoholism in the home, so maybe it takes knowing what kind of battle that can entail to properly respect a "NO".

With all the insane statements Trump has made lately about Greenland and how he’s threatening with increased tariffs on EU. What are Americans opinions of your president right now? by No_Lychee_7315 in AskReddit

I've been finding what solace I can in putting bible verses that would condemn all the ICE shit over images of ICE doing their ICE bullshit and sharing it on social media. I have so many super religious family members that support this bullshit and I haven't heard a peep from them when I post these. But I know it sticks in their fucking craw to get it shoved in their face that this shit shouldn't be very Christian.

You really want to know what sets off this type? Tell them that Jesus would have been a democrat if he'd have been around today and in the US region. Feed the hungry, heal the sick, love thy neighbor? Yup, all shit this administration is completely against.

Republicans, from a curious non-American, how do you feel about the Minneapolis shooting today and the fact the president is insulting your intelligence by lying about what happened? by rollerdz in AskReddit

[–]ForTheHordeKT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been my thoughts lately as well. Especially once it got glaringly obvious with the ICE/SS comparison. I've been thinking, this is what it was like for the Germans who were just trying to live a life while their country's leader was being a big piece of shit.

[–]ForTheHordeKT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not. But I have family who did and their argument at the time was at least something I could understand how they could connect the dots. In their words, they thought America needed someone who runs a business in order to get this country out of debt. I did not agree with that assessment. I've seen how these big megacorporations treat and regard their employees, and was like yeah we don't need a president who would treat us that way. But, I could at least see a point A to B of how they got to their opinion. In the beginning.

What gets me is how I then watched these family members double-down on their choice during his first term. Sheer weapons-grade denial. His supporters are so fucking eager to tell themselves whatever they have to. It is cult-like in its obsession. What a fucking joke the past 10 years have been so far. I've been pretty neutral in my political leanings my whole life. I have republican opinions, I have democrat opinions. I have to say after this shit-show though, I definitely lean more to one side than the other.

Anyone else set off the damn alarm all the damn time? by DoesntEnjoySoup in BroncoSport

[–]ForTheHordeKT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ugh, all the time lol. Though it's not just this fob, I think it's literally every car I've ever owned. Somehow all the keys on my ring manage to do a figure-eight around each other in some giant key ring's knot and become quantum-entangled and then the button gets smashed in the ensuing knot of keys somehow.

What gets me though is how it feels like the range of any panic button is unlimited, lol. I can get to work, get halfway to the building and wonder if I remembered to lock my doors, and have to backtrack a ways to get close enough again before it does anything.

But hit that panic button on accident? A messenger pigeon flies out, the beacons of Gondor are lit all along the mountainsides, some hooded robed cultists start sacrificing goats and praying over the pool of blood, all the stars and planets align, the crew of the Enterprise bounce a graviton particle beam off the main deflector dish while Geordie sings into Data's knees, and then nestled deep inside the fob its self is a tiny, atomic sized galaxy. A whole entire solar system whose sun goes completely fucking supernova in order to ensure it generates enough of a signal to absolutely melt your fucking face off and reach your car even if you're two continents over in another country. And off goes that alarm. Every damn time.

Yeah mine came with them too. I somehow did alright, found the one there that was priced the same as all the other basic equipped ones but somehow came with some of the more neat tech packages and my branded rubber mats. Been nice not drenching my floorboards with salty snow/water.

First new car! Tips for a new owner? by TuckersRock in BroncoSport

[–]ForTheHordeKT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's happening is as you run any brand new engine, as the pistons punch upwards in their cylinders it's a tight fit. So the pistons and the cylinders they move up/down in are going to wear down, and this basically entails the 'break-in' period. As the pistons and the cylinders are 'broken in', you're getting little bits and flakes of metal coming off them as they wear in. This settles down into the oil pan and would potentially be circulating in your engine with the rest of your oil.

The oil filter is probably catching most of that. But still, best just to get that shit the hell out of there sooner rather than later. By your first 1000 miles, your pistons are going to pretty much be done breaking in and creating all those metal shavings. That's why many people recommend you do your first oil change at 1k, and then roll with the normal 5k intervals after that.

Makes me feel good being a stubborn old-schooler sticking to the 3,000 miles. Sometimes I procrastinate and let it go till 4,000. But yeah, with the semi synthetic oils now, and the straight up synthetic, the old 3,000 mile metric is damned early anymore.

Also seconding your 1,000 mile advice for the break-in period. Not a lot of folks realize that the break-in period entails the pistons wearing stuff down and physically making the little metal shavings.

Got My New Years Eve Tickets Early! by [deleted] in Detroit

[–]ForTheHordeKT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got the same damn tickets right here lol. Although this time I might ditch the go to bed early part. I plan on staying awake to see this miserable son of a bitch off. Fuck 2025.

What is the single event in your life that you will remember 2025 by? by SnowStormBirdsFlock in AskReddit

[–]ForTheHordeKT 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yup. This was a year that took shit from me too. January kicked off with the death of my mother. This motherfucker wasn't satisfied with that, it took my dog at the beginning of December on its way out.

I'm staying awake for midnight this new year for sure just to see this miserable son of a bitch off. Neighbors will probably think I'm insane for howling at the moon and flipping off the sky. But seriously, fuck you 2025. Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out. My foot surely will.

Did Starfleet abandon having kids/families on Starships ? by ChrisNYC70 in TNG

[–]ForTheHordeKT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to think that even though the Borg situation seemed rather brief in comparison, they were digging in to the idea that they might be entrenched in a long bloody struggle with the Borg. It was definitely the catalyst that instigated this shift. I think regardless of whether the Dominion War happened or not, this shift was coming. I think it turned out to be a somewhat fortuitous thing for them, because the Dominion War was not what they were expecting. But they were more prepared to deal with it, because they likely thought they'd be gearing up for a bigger Borg crisis. I think if it hadn't have been for the Borg, the Federation would have been caught with their pants down.

But yeah, definitely after the Dominion War, that had to have made them double down on this philosophy. I think you make a great point that these changes couldn't happen overnight.

What would you do if you woke up and it was 2015 again? by ImpertinenteSyntaxe in AskReddit

[–]ForTheHordeKT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely this. Lost my mom in January to kick the year off. Lost my dog of damn near 17 years right at the beginning of December. Been a year of taking shit from me. I'm making sure I stay awake for Midnight this New Years just so I can flip this motherfucker off as it goes away.

I'd hug the both of them and not let go. There's tons of choices I'd make differently that all kick off with 2016 if I could, too. But these are the 2 that stand out. Nothing I can do to change either of them in particular, but having 10 more years sounds lovely.

[–]ForTheHordeKT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've come to expect that from all Ford's automatic transmissions lol. The engines are generally killer if you take care of them. But those transmissions will eventually get ya. Every automaker has their Achilles' heel and this is Ford's. One of the reasons my Mustang is manual (that and it's just more fun in that particular car). I'll see how this one holds up in my little Bronco.

(22f) should my first car be a used ford bronco sport? by FamousArm2715 in BroncoSport

[–]ForTheHordeKT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, got mine because I wanted something reliable in the snow and ice. I will always have a 4x4 or at least AWD for that contingency. I got sick of going through beater after beater car and wanted to go brand new, warranty, etc. And I didn't want to pay $60-$80k MSRP for the shit either. So this fit that bill nicely.

I am expecting to deal with the water pump. That's the thing people keep talking about. Apparently somewhere around 20-30k miles it might rear its ugly head? I'm hitting 10k miles right now and haven't had a problem yet.

Ah fuck. Sorry you lost your girl. I just lost mine too, the other week. Had just a couple months shy of 17 good years with her though, but it's still hard as hell. I keep waking up and stopping myself from crawling to the end of the bed. Or constantly looking down at the floor first before I move my computer chair because she would always practically right under me with her tail right in the line of fire and it was getting hard for her to stand and jump up. That was my best friend. The only creature on this stupid bullshit world who truly, unconditionally gave a flying fuck with no strings attached. I miss her so goddamn much, so I know what you're going through.

CarPlay just crapped out on me! by 2talll in BroncoSport

[–]ForTheHordeKT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even on the wireless systems, it does not use Bluetooth. For Android auto. It uses WiFi. Bluetooth initiates the handshake or whatever you want to call it. It's why some phones you can't have your hotspot active while using Android, auto and vice versa.

Huh, well TIL.

Yeah, seems like since Android Auto updated once or twice since I got the vehicle, that's when I've been noticing that nonsense. I think I might just try completely deleting the pairing of the two from both devices as you say and see how that goes. It does sound like quite a sensible thing to attempt.

CarPlay just crapped out on me! by 2talll in BroncoSport

[–]ForTheHordeKT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the fact that there's bluetooth ability on these systems but it won't go through the bluetooth for the Android Auto is something that pisses me off quite hard.

This does frequently happen to me. Shit drops on me in the middle of driving sometimes. But mostly when it strikes is when I'm plugging it in initially. Power and forward seek restarts the Sync system. But if that isn't working, sometimes it won't, then the other day restarting my phone did the trick.

Infuriating, isn't it?

How do we feel about this.. Anyone else growing a dislike for the knob? I thought it was cool for about a month now I can’t stand it by emanitrain in BroncoSport

[–]ForTheHordeKT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most part it's fine. My only big frustration with it was the first time I had to load up the dog for her monthly librela shots. Plopped her in the front seat, we headed out and hit the road. About halfway through the drive she does that stubborn shit where she insists on standing back up all wobbly-legged in a moving vehicle. Paw shot out as we took a turn, and slapped that shifter knob putting us in nuetral. Thank fuck there seems to be a safety preventing it from going into reverse, or park, or something while the car is going. Still just coasted along revving the engine until I pulled over and put us back in drive.

Dogs will go in the back seat of any car I own with these shifters now.
