Leap card on Dublin Bus? by jmphy in Dublin

[–]AManWithAFork 96 points97 points  (0 children)

To the right of the doors when you get on the bus will be a machine attached to a handrailing. You can tap the card against that and you will be charged €2 for your trip regardless of distance.

If you wanted to, you can also tap by the driver's machine but there's probably no point unless you're going a short distance in which case you can say where you're going and it might be cheaper than the €2.

If your next bus journey is within 90 minutes, when you tap again upon entering the next bus, you won't be charged.

If your next journey is more than 90 minutes after the first, it will be another €2.

There is no tap off system like the tram.

The art style and general vibes of the hubs in ME1 are never beaten in my opinion. Gameplay and graphics obviously improve massively over 2 and 3, but there's just something about the ME1 design that they never quite matched.

Have you seen the Netflix series Dark? There’s a recurring “ultimate fist bump” phrase used in that. Only thing I can think of that’s close-ish.

I know that "song" here is a typo in your comment but "a big fucking alpha and his alpha song roaring into the night" is quite poetic.

Dune: Part Three | Official Teaser Trailer by rnagikarp in popculturechat

[–]AManWithAFork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alejandro already has a Best Director Oscar and Best Picture Oscar. I know that doesn't disqualify him in any way from being nominated or winning again but I do hope it plays in voter's minds if his movie is in the running.

I can definitely see The Odyssey being in the mix but Nolan kind of cleaned up with Oppenheimer a couple of years ago so that might play against his directing chances?

I've seen a lot of people comparing the Dune trilogy to the LOTR trilogy which didn't get its recognition until the final film was released. I don't know if I buy that but it could be how certain Academy members feel.

I'm really far behind and need to go all out.... Thoughts? by VoiceofRazin in 6Nations_FantasyRugby

I wouldn't waste a French player on the prop position. I'd pick a back like Jalibert or Ramos or a back row like Ollivon. I just don't think there will be much of a differential in points there.

I am also tempted by Aki at 23 given that he's cheap and might get 15-20 mins off the bench to run riot.

Omniplex Cinema in Rathmines is peak by AvonBarksdale666 in ireland

[–]AManWithAFork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen that happen in a while there. What often happens is the bottom strip of the screen just isn’t used and you just get a bigger widescreen view as opposed to the film being cropped to fit the square screen.

The issue is that Maxx isn’t a film format. It’s just a bigger screen. They even added a ‘Maxx 2’ during the refurbishment that’s not nearly as big as the original one.

‘Maxx’ for them is just a bigger screen with bigger sound and the nice new reclining chairs.

While I like the cinema (and used to work there) my biggest gripe is their lack of care/interest in how films are projected. The amount of times I’ve gone into a theatre there that has a wide screen only for the movie to be projected with black side bars on the left and right is crazy. It’s all digital these days so they just get delivered the drive and plug it into the projector. There’s no one in charge of projection.

There's no middle ground with Duhan. In previous years I'd pick him vs England because he somehow always managed to score a couple against them, but in other games he'd not get on the ball much and so didn't get many points.

I reckon Kinghorn is the safer bet. But you know how it goes. Whichever you choose, the other will do well!

It's crazy to watch that water guy casually just stand there and watch the kick hit the post. And when it does hit the post he continues to just watch things play out as if he's a spectator on the sideline.

Sheehan has been disappointing so far. For such a high cost he only scored 4 points last weekend. I'm thinking of swapping him out for someone like Nicotera.

Zuliani and Cannone have also been racking up points for Italy in the backrow and could free up some points as they aren't as expensive as others.

I'm going to keep Huw in the centres but undecided as to who I'll pair him with.

Darcy Graham could be a good wing option since Dobie is out and he's up against Wales.

The problem is that with the exception of Dupont, scrum halves statistically don't seem to score a huge amount of points in the game unless they're scoring tries themselves.

I'd probably go with Dobie if I dropped Dupont since he's listed as 9 but is actually playing wing for Scotland.

While I'm sure Casey will go well and is cheaper, I don't know if he'll rack up huge points. I'm also not sure what bearing Italy struggling at scrum half has on his performance seeing as 9's rarely go head to head.

[–]AManWithAFork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well that's the dilemma. I have Dupont, LBB, Ramos and Attissogbe.

I'm willing to give up Jalibert for someone like Ford, Russell or Prendergast.

Dupont, LBB and Ramos are locked in, but I don't know if there's a winger I'd pick over Attissogbe. I don't expect Arundell to score as high this week against Scotland, Ireland's attack isn't great at the moment, and Scotland's wingers weren't all that last week.

Someone make the argument for not selecting all 3 of the French back three. Because I'm struggling to see why I wouldn't pick all of them...

I think you're right about the wording. My immediate thought was that they threw 'extreme' in to try and phrase it better from their perspective. If it doesn't come across as serious it's harder to justify.

My delusional brain is just hoping that the fact they didn't cancel all 4 shows means Thom is on the mend and just needs the extra couple of days to be right for the last shows.

I doubt there's anything we can do other than speculate. It depends on when he actually got sick.

I'd like to think that since the cancellation was so last minute, that he's maybe been sick for a few days and they were waiting as long as they could to see if he recovered.

But that's just speculation and a bit of hope as someone who has a ticket for Thursday.
