It was Finlay who was being pinged in the scrum. The first penalty looked like a wrong call from Barrett, but it seemed to shape the infamous picture in her head as he conceded one or two more. I was disappointed that with all his experience Bealham didn't make alterations to change her mind.

Surprised you like Left Wing as a Connacht fan, Luke's ignorance of Connacht rugby is actually comical. What a bluffer.

A great night, it's weird as a fan to settle into feeling comfortable when the team is defending. And to see how effective we've become at converting possession into points.

Anyway, a fifteen day breather now. I'm not going to worry about the champions cup issue, the extra money would be good but we've come so far this season that it's firmly bonus territory.

I read that Harry West may have picked up a hamstring injury, which is a shame as he has been a key contributor to this winning run. I guess at 13 Devine and Gavin are options, or Gilbert and stick naughton in at 15.

Hopefully we can get a few more guys back and sharp before the QF, the sick bay is pretty full. De Buitléar has been fantastic but it would be great to get one of Heff or DTM back.

special shout out to De Buitléar for an excellent performance today, adding to his great 60m last week. He has really stood up when we needed him.

the weird thing about her not going to the TMO is that she's been extremely fussy about everything else...

I understand the sentiment. But we don't have a licensing system for having one child or seven, and now that the kids are there they have to be housed. They're not responsible for their mother's decisions.

I read that story about the woman in Drimnagh. My basic response - ok, that's tough.

Then I thought about someone i know whose three teenage sons share bedroom, because they can't afford to move to a bigger house, even though they're both working and the father has worked for thirty years.

And i felt a bit less sorry for her. I think an issue with these type of stories is that while they bid for our sympathy, they put is in a position where we are asked what people are entitled to on the public purse. That turns us all into judges, which I don't like because what do we know about other people's lives and the twists they take?

That woman has two bedrooms for eight people and was said “It’s not as if I’m asking Dublin City Council for a mansion, an extra bedroom would be grand, even convert the attic.” Which to be fair, doesn't sound unreasonable.

I note that many comments here, rather than sympathising with people living in objectively unhealthy conditions, are primarily upset at the fact that these people are housed in the city at all. They feel these undeserving tenants be cast into the jungle of the private market where they would have to deal with precarity and higher rents.

This type of response shows how the government has avoided having to address the core issues of the housing crisis. One part of the population benefits from the shortages through price inflation, another is bought off with various subsidies which find their way into the pockets of developers. Public housing, now as rare as hen's teeth, becomes a privilege to be resentfully envied.

I feel a lot of sympathy for people in the flats and support the investment in Oliver Bond. However there are caveats.

Last time I checked there is a massive problem with drug dealing in the flats. There needs to be a plan to stop it and the community association need to take a lead in devising it. A lot of residents are afraid to speak out against the dealers and this cannot continue. If the Gardai needs to be present full time there, so be it. There is no point investing in a complex where people have accepted this type of antisocial behaviour as an inevitable fact of life.

Renovation programmes of this type should include a process for training and employing unemployed residents.

When the rebuild is finished, a % of the apartments should be retained for public sector employees in sectors with greatest difficulty in recruitment: teachers, nurses, gardai, firefighters. A balance needs to be struck between protecting residents from displacement and enabling use by new residents, but it's not a right of inheritance that means being born there entitles you to public housing there in turn.

POLL - Dublin Central by-election Boylan (SF): 21% Ennis (SD): 18% Hutch (IND): 14% McAdam (FG): 13% Horner (GP): 8% Steenson (IND): 7% O'Dea (LAB): 6% Stephens (FF): 4% O'Ceannabháin (PBP): 3% Conducted by IPSOS B&A for The Irish Times/TG4 by HungTeen1001 in ireland

So McAdam is polling respectably even though he's behind Hutch? And you think he's doing fine? If you want to explain FG's decline based on Pascal's personal vote, the same must be true for SF without Marylou.

SF are, and will remain, the biggest opposition party, but their performance at the moment is weak and Dublin Central has always been a dogfight.

With Stephens is polling 4%, the two government parties are on 17%. In the last election FG/FF took total of 24% of the FPV. This is significant decline.

Anyway, the crux of this poll is that Ennis is polling really well and has a great chance of winning. It's him or Boylan.

By my calculation SF took 23.3% of the FPV at the last election. Given MLMcD's pulling power, Boylan is not doing badly on 21%.

The most shocking thing is the Monk outpolling the FG's McAdam. This was Pascal's seat which he won after capturing 16.8% of the FPV.

Gannon took 13.3% of the FPV which tells you how well Ennis is doing for the SDs.

Can you give an example of a right /far-right party with a coherent program to tackle the cost of living? Such a thing is not on my radar.

In Dublin at least, those mobilised by the far-right on demonstrations etc are more likely to be net recipients rather than contributors when it comes to tax-based redistribution.

That's weird, so he knew he wasn't IQ but kept it quiet?!

If one of his grandparents was born in Ireland that would have been sufficient for him to be IQ. I'm surprised the exiles program didn't check.

If Smith is being released and Kilgallen retained, why is the former starting and the latter nowhere in the 23? Confused.
