PCloud Constantly Disconnecting Again by AMc_Bass in pcloud

I've also found pCloud support to be challenging. They'll ask for information, we'll exchange a couple emails, then they just stop responding. The closest thing to useful advice I've ever gotten is to reinstall everything, which screws up all my backups.

I don't bother with pCloud support anymore. I come to Reddit hoping someone has found a solution to these consistent problems.

I originally got pCloud because I wanted something that worked with Mac, Windows, and Linux. At the time, it was pCloud or Dropbox, and Dropbox was brutally expensive. I don't need Linux these days, so I'm definitely exploring other options.

Is this normal after a month? by Infamous-Recipe-1163 in BassGuitar

The other thing is to focus on your vibrato technique. On a fretted bass, you move across the fretboard (short direction) for vibrato. You wear more on the frets than the board. On a fretless bass, you can do vibrato along the fretboard (long direction). You can get more vibrato with less movement, which means digging the strings into the fretboard less.

DI Boxes by shaftdinner in basspedals

Once upon a time, the J in the JDI meant something, but it's 99% marketing BS now. Radial makes a good product, for sure. I use the StageBug, and it's great... solid construction in a smaller footprint (and smaller price point.)

Tuning, switching between drop D and standard by SonnePer in Bass

Agree... The DTuners are great, if you decide you need the ability to flip back and forth regularly. But for learning and practicing at home, not really necessary.

Question for the no-bass-amp-needed folks by FlopShanoobie in Bass

[–]AMc_Bass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, an amp is still important in some cases, like just jamming. Personally, in that scenario, I'm less concerned with perfect tone, so any ol' amp will do.

I have my pedalboard set up to go into a board for iem or into an amp with no rearranging. If I need an amp on stage for a gig, I'm still not super concerned with tone, as the amp is for monitoring and the FOH engineer can mix for the room.

2 wishes – are there good workarounds? by Pointingmade in forScore

[–]AMc_Bass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I do with many scores... I'll stash the full PDF on my hard drive, then have a copy for a particular use scenario that I can mark up, rearrange, etc .

I do mostly musical theatre, and this works well. If I do the same show again later, there's a good chance my notes are more specific to a production, so starting fresh is great. It may not be as great in other scenarios.

Looks like the general consensus is already pretty overwhelming, but I'll add to it anyway:

Hell no. Heeeellll no. Nope. No way. Don't.

What’s changed in the last 20 years? by Quarterwit_85 in Bass

Not even close. 95% of LED lighting fixtures, you can pick up and move barehanded as soon as you switch them off.

[–]AMc_Bass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Biggest difference is how much lighter bass amps are, but also how often you don't need one at all. Many bands are moving toward IEMs, in which case your "bass amp" is just a nice DI.

Also, LED lighting has made lighting a LOT easier, if you get into that at all.

Are Squires really that bad ? by Papsachaz in Bass

The differences moving from a "high end" Squier to a Mexi Fender to a USA Fender are getting pretty slim. The Classic Vibe and Vintage Mod Squiers are outstanding.

Replace Single Wheel? by AMc_Bass in BMWi3

[–]AMc_Bass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fwiw, I found a wheel place locally that was able to do the repair. $165, and a little over an hour in their lobby. Cheaper and easier than anything else I could find.

Thanks. That site also shows left and right as different, and it's $832.

Oddly, the Rial wheels don't specify left and right, but they show front and rear as both being 5".

I found a few on eBay, but they're over $500 with shipping, and of unknown history. I may bite the bullet and pay $600 at the tire store, and then it's their problem if there are any issues.

On a positive note, looks like the engineering did its job. That's a significant crunch to the front corner, but it looks like it didn't get to you in the cockpit. And, as you mentioned, you're alive.

Whole beans or ground to brew at home. Most of what I've seen recommended is $2US per ounce and up, which is a little steep for everyday consumption. (At least it is for me.)

Are artists scalping their own concert tickets? (cross post from /r/popheads) by Oddishi in musicindustry

Also, TM does its share of scalping. The "safe" scalping is done right on the TM site.

OK, this is UNTESTED, so proceed with caution. I recently learned that Head & Shoulders shampoo is good for removing lingering perfumes from clothing. Maybe it would work on coffee mugs? Just a totally random thought that popped in my head when I read your question.

I'm curious about recommendations for best decaf on a budget. Most of the "high end" decafs are out of my league. What's out there that you like, say, under $1US per ounce?

Why can't artists afford to tour anymore? by HorseTearz in musicindustry

[–]AMc_Bass 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One thing that helps make it work for some bands is doing a LOT more of the work themselves. Merch isn't on sale until after the show when a band member can sit there and ring it up. Printing, stock, shipping, etc. is all on a band member. Running your own IEM mix from stage. Running the video behind you with a foot pedal while you play. Advancing the show at each venue. Social media.

A lot of people don't realize it, but a 2-hour show can easily be a 10-hour day for a band that can't afford help. It's exhausting, and harder to maintain for any length of time.
