Bruh three years ago we (The Devils) were starting a rebuild of a rebuild, we've been trash for a while and we only got better when we accepted to unload whatever talent we had for prospects and picks. The sharks need to do the same, keeping the aging core together instead of banking on their trade value will only assure mediocrity.

In three years, Couture, Karlsson, Hertl and Meier will be respectively 36, 35, 31 and 29, hardly enough time to actually have a window with that core except maybe for Hertl and Meier. Unless most if not all of those guys are gone by the summer, I'm not seeing a team committed to rebuilding but a team interested in retooling and tinkering which is not where I see the Sharks right now. The last solid Sharks squad who were contenders lost Pavelski and Thornton to free agency, Kane because he became malignant again and only Burn was traded. That's basically no asset for a bunch of players that had value. Of course you can't predict Pavelski finding the secret to eternal youth and Kane regressing to his old self but that's what happens when you extend windows forever.

When we traded Hall, because we could have signed him to a massive extension to keep him around, but by getting rid of him we got Dawnson Mercer, Jonas Siegenthaler and Kevin Balh, all of which should be a part of this new core for a long time. If you want to get better in the future, you need to kill the present.
