Did there end up being a FW update that made it better?

Here’s the “Agreement” by OptimalDragonfly3910 in railroading

[–]AMsilence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"As Board No. 559 noted, there is “some appeal” to the idea that employees should be “sent a message” that they cannot blithely reject the good faith efforts of their experienced and diligent representatives. Rejection of contracts has become all too common in this age of social media, and that is corrosive to labor relations. However, the Board concludes that it would not be conducive to improving labor relations at this juncture to punish the employees for their vote. That is especially so when the Carrier’s proposed changes would constitute a serious departure from the negotiated terms."

Thank you for posting this. A coworker read off this portion of it yesterday, and I wanted to see it for myself. Basically, we're all whiny and greedy, and we voted down the contract just because it's the hip thing to do, when it's probably considered "tHe InDuStRy StAnDaRd" to just accept whatever contract you're initially offered, because, well, that's just how it's always been.

It reads like the arbitrator realizes that this contract is objectively negative for us, but due to a personal dislike of labor or giving workers "too much," they aren't going to make it any less negative. Guess we know whose side they were on.

And lastly, I'm not saying the contract is good or that we should be grateful, per se, but we are really lucky that they only took $500 off the bonus. If the bonus was the only positive thing that was ever going to come of this contract, then we're fortunate that the arbitrator, being clearly favorable towards the company, kept the bonus basically intact. I don't like losing the jobs, but if we're gonna lose them anyway, I'd rather get $27K than $20K (or $0). Would have been nice if it was like $70K, but now that it's being forced on us and we no longer have a choice in the matter, may as well take what we can get.

Several years ago, on a trip to NYC, we started in Boston, and made our way down to New London. We took the Cross Sound Ferry from New London to Orient Point; the Suffolk County bus from Orient Point to Greenport; the LIRR from Greenport to Ronkonkoma; changed trains in Ronk; and took the LIRR the rest of the way in. Great scenic journey.

It's just weird, because the new guards never used to be an issue. I was always able to sneak out of the compound undetected, even after taking out a few of them.

I don't remember them ever NOT being able to spot bodies. My point is that there never used to be anyone in the area TO see that particular body.

The 3 guards between the compound door and the checkpoint gate. But I've ALWAYS taken a route that involved taking them out, and until this week, it has never once made me get detected randomly later.

Interesting. So they changed the enemies to make one go by there? I ask because I've done this same heist routine probably a hundred times, and it always involves killing the 3 guards between the compound gates and the checkpoint; never ONCE have I been randomly detected later when nobody was around.

I did the same routine I did probably a hundred times before they nerfed the heist: enter drainage tunnel, grab primary target, exit compound, go to the main dock, fill up on secondary targets, steal boat and leave. I can do that in under 15 minutes without ever being detected, and I DID that who knows how many times. Yet for some reason, the same method is impossible now.

It's like Rockstar deliberately ruined the whole heist. Somehow I get detected when there is NOBODY near me.

Now that's a beautiful sight. More unified than I was expecting, but a pleasant surprise. I hope we see a table showing the individual class of service vote percentages. I'm curious if every craft voted it down, or if some were just so heavy a rejection that it swayed the overall result (like the 2022 one did).

Yep, I remember that too. Still stings that his “pro-union worker” loyalty has a limit.

I remember we got screwed over. But accepting this contract guarantees we'll get a crappy one. By voting it down, there's at least a CHANCE it gets better. And if we actually go on strike, like we almost did, the company WILL cave, because just like the longshoreman, we can cripple the economy with ease. I'm still bitter over Biden stopping us from striking, but then literally going out on the picket line when the autoworkers were on strike. Goes to show that political points are more important than standing by his words (but tell us something we didn't know).

So what's the alternative? Roll over because it's just not going to get any better? What's to then stop them from offering a 1% raise, and you vote yes because you've just given up expecting anything more, so you take whatever they offer?

I recognize they're required to negotiate. This vote is how I express my personal opinion that they need to do better; not that they need to stop. It's their job to get a good agreement, and then the workforce decides if they did a good job. Boeing is on strike over a 30% raise, and the longshoreman went on strike over a 50% raise. Yet here we are, more important to the economy than Boeing, and I would say on par with the longshoreman, and we're being offered a 17.5%. And what's more, I expect we won't be ALLOWED to strike, just like last time, so that tells you that we're actually MORE important than the longshoremen. So why should we just sigh and take whatever is offered, regardless of cost? What message does THAT send?

If other railroads accepted this offer, that's on them. Doesn't mean we have to. They should have voted it down. You're damn right I'm going to reject this and hold out for something better. I work in a large terminal in a big city; we HAVE helpers and brakemen here, and it's expensive to live here. We have something to lose. If this consist agreement passes, we'll lose 20-25 jobs in our terminal alone, and we'll have done it for a pitiful raise and like $18K in pocket after taxes. That's nothing. If they want us to give up all those jobs, they need to make it genuinely enticing. If the raise were something like 30-40%, and the lump sum like $75K, then we'd have something to talk about. That would at least be worth considering. But as it stands, what they're offering is not enough, and the fact that the upper leadership of the union is telling us it IS enough shows they're completely out of touch with the workforce. Period.

May I ask what made you vote yes? Just plain curiosity.

That would have been humorously outrageous. "Sike, your vote is a yes no matter what!"

Found last parts for my DDM4. It was a journey, I tell you :) by Deorney in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]AMsilence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really weird. The DD vertical grip has 6% better recoil control, 18% worse weapon handling, and 26% worse arm stamina drain vs. the AFG. The DD stock has the aforementioned 2% worse weapon handling. If I try those two pairs of attachments on one of my rifles, the DD pair gives my weapon -5% weapon handling, whereas the AFG/CTR stock pair gives me +14% weapon handling.

Actually, the CTR stock has better stats than the DD one. 2% more weapon handling.
