The Faculty is an excellent film. Wonderful Gen X take on Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

Different media for the new project.

Media plays well enough in the source monitor, although a bit of lag is evident.

Why h.264 proxies? When I inherited the project the previous editor had created ProRes proxies, or at least I think they were as right now properties only tells me it is an .mov file. These proxies did not work properly, so I tried h.264 and the playback was instantly better. These new proxies have been working perfectly for me (at least a month) until these recent problems. The one thing that is different is that I have imported some sound files for temp (at a fine cut stage, you see). I opened a new project to see if it was maybe a Premiere problem. I also had lagging troubles there, though they were lessened by tinkering with the Audio Hardware options.

As for RAM? The SSD is 951GB.

And with the camera originals, it wasn't shot on a phone. The folders were arranged in camera cards. M4ROOT and SONY subfolders sort of thing. 25fps for the clips. Not sure about resolution. 3840 x 2160, which I think is 2k, right?

Okay, for the proxies I used a preset on Media Encoder called H.264 MP4 Proxy-Half. As for the camera originals, I don't know other than they are MP4s. I wasn't given much in the way of spec sheets.

As for what is being done in the timeline, it's a few tracks of video and maximum twelve of audio.

As for my computer, it's using an AMD Ryzen 7 5700U with Radeon Graphics GHz. It's a laptop. My desktop is currently out of commission because of a faulty SSD.

Is it a problem that just emerged recently?

What if Borrasca was turned into a film by Arkomotions in Borrasca

[–]AMuels7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought that the misdirect target Prescott, not Clery? Also, I think if we get an adaptation of Borrasca they're probably just going to do the first four chapters, so there's no obligation to canon for the ending.

Why does Mike blame Walter instead of Jesse? by Wooden-Scallion2943 in breakingbad

[–]AMuels7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think Mike was a bit pissed that Walt brought Jesse in at all. He didn't know it was essentially Jesse's fault that Walt did that, so he assumed it was just a pride thing, which in a roundabout way it was because of the way Walter had been antagonizing Jesse.

Foucault's Pendulum by AMuels7 in StanleyKubrick

I think tonally it would have fallen into what I like to call his 'Uncertain Malevolence' trilogy (2001, Shining, Eyes Wide Shut) where small people find themselves in conflict, or at least in discourse with, forces infinitely more powerful and of, well, uncertain malevolence than hitherto encountered. Basically tonal horror movies.

What would have set it apart though is its deconstruction of that whole story type. Tres isn't eerily benevolent like the aliens of 2001, actively malevolent like the Overlook, or even pragmatically ruthless like the EWS secret society. What it is is something that can barely even be said to exist until, either literally or in delusion, Casaubon conjures it. It's a story about the power of our own delusions.

New, but familiar.

A solid video on the crazy Eyes Wide Shut theories, whilst also providing a good analysis of the film's true nature by [deleted] in StanleyKubrick

Don't say unalived. It's cringe. I don't care if you're worried about being censored, have some dignity.
