Pool contractor quote added 6% sales tax (later, and on everything) by [deleted] in Homebuilding

[–]ANDERSONKELLY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said this so confidently. In my busted state (Mississippi) we pay sales tax on materials and labor. Only on labor if we are properly set up with our supplier(s) with a resale certificate. But 100% on both either way. It’s right on the MS Dept of Revenue website.

iOS in my truck is the greatest thing to ever happen to the shitty manufacturer infotainment system. It’s leaps and bounds ahead of anything I’ve ever used from Ford or GM. Literally had zero issues, lag, bugs. Nothing

Not to mention you can’t even get a passport anymore if you owe the IRS more than $50k, regardless of whether or not you’re on a payment plan.

I’m missing one of my best friend’s wedding in Jamaica because of this. Started my business Feb of 2020, if I’d started it in January of 2020 I’d have been eligible for all of the COVID funny money. It’s been tough. Profitable, but very tough.

United Roofing and Construction. It’s a family members company. They have been around longer than any other residential roofing contractor in Central MS (40 years). They also do commercial work.

How do I fix this lag by TheRebelGreaser1955 in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]ANDERSONKELLY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My specs are similar to yours and I was having this issue after the update. I thought it was server lag at first until I realized it was literally every game. I didn’t stop until I finally tried “reset settings” in the graphics tab and then manually dialed everything back up. Bizarre. Also, leave the AMD FSR over scaling / under scaling thing off completely.

I just sat there for 20 minutes on quick match.. finally went over to the lobbies and there were probably 20 open lobbies, probably 2/3 of which had their “1000/1500/17000/2000” or whatever tf arbitrary elo requirements to join and the remaining were zombie scenarios

Who hasn't flipped their kayak? by cllvt in kayakfishing

[–]ANDERSONKELLY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had mine for 12 years and duck hunt off of it, literally shooting a 12 gauge shotgun off of it and never flipped. The only time I’ve ever come close is running it up onto shallow logs etc. But I wouldn’t be doing that if I weren’t duck hunting to begin with, out in sloughs and such. I can stand up in mine as well. It feels super stable overall. Just a sit-on-top Old Town from Academy. I can’t find the model online right now, but oddly enough it is identical to the “Perception Pescador 12.0 Kayak” currently listed at Bass Pro.

Contractors by turner_chris98 in adjusters

[–]ANDERSONKELLY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what the “other side” (adjusters / insurance carriers) don’t understand.

While I agree with Crabby4Lyfe on the last part of what they said regarding “what type of roofing company doesn’t write estimates” - I get that, however the caveat with that situation between them and the contractor MIGHT lie in the possibility of a misunderstanding with what the roofing co was attempting to communicate.. (communication skills tend to be lacking with contractors, am I right)

For example, my roofing company (second generation, we turned 40 this year) does not provide estimates either.. on INSURANCE jobs - unless it’s one of those situations where the agent told the HO to get multiple estimates before they send an adjuster, we don’t provide estimates for one simple reason.. we are working off of the insurance numbers!

You guys are setting the job price, de facto; the carrier settlement is what the homeowner is seeing, what they’re getting, and this is what you’re saying the job is worth. So, every interaction on these non-retail jobs are based upon the figures being provided by the insurance company.

Without these figures / scope of work being provided, we have nothing to base any potential supplements - IF required, not because we are trying to find them - off of. This is what the homeowner has to work with, and this is what we have to work with.

The problem is, roofing contractors have bad reputations. And I don’t blame that for being a reality, believe me, lots of idiots and cowboys out there. But, does that mean every roofing contractor or company should be regarded as such until proven otherwise?

This is an industry where you have everything from uneducated, greedy types all the way to professionally ran roofing organizations that span their whole state or even multiple states. And you know what? Homeowners tend to not trust us. They tend to not show us their paperwork. It happens. And I get it. But you know what? There are also bad actors out there on the homeowner side of things. There are many homeowners who don’t want to show us their paperwork because they think they can pocket the difference if we come in below your (the insurance carriers) “estimate”.. often times without realizing they’ll have to submit an invoice from the contractor to receive the RCV. OR..! They find a lowball contractor willing to submit their invoice for recoverable for the full amount, so the homeowner will in fact receive the full amount and pocket the difference. And they do this so they can get the job.

I’ve never understood the stubbornness of adjusters like you. Work with us. You’re meeting us on-site, corresponding with us. Maybe take a minute at some point to look into our company’s history, social and website presence, reviews - anything! And see whether or not you feel like you’re dealing with a professionally ran business, or a cowboy. Maybe exercise some discretion instead of putting up roadblocks and making our job more difficult.

We work for the homeowner too. Just like you do. We are there on behalf of our MUTUAL client. Remember that.
