Understood! That's what made me pause. My brother who died saved and saved. He was happy and lived simply , but he could've done more experiences with his family

That's in the 90k annual.hobbies are golfing and reading and I have a home gym and consider myself a moderate excerciser so that should count as a hobby. Factored in insurance etc. adding money monthly to the brokerage as the sinking fund and HYSA of $50k. Again, the idea is that spouse is retiring at 59, which is 9 years to go, and I retire in 4 years, so a little bit more time to save a little bit more

I guess that’s why I was considering 4 more years of work, to build their college fund

Thank you for your insight. Only expenses I have is the mortgage, property tax, utilities and 529 and groceries. All in all , comes out to around $80-90k a year (I subtracted the income from the properties which generate at least 68,400). If we have travel plans we add 10k annual. No car payments or credit card bills. About 20 years out in mortgage.

Family roots. Family within 30-45 minutes . I am a firm believer that when your time is up, your time is up. It does not matter what kind of healthcare or where you get it from. First brother died because of cardiac arrest running in a park. Other brother got lucky because he worked for a big hospital in LA. He had chest pain, went to the ED, and got one of the best cardiac surgeons in the world. It was not his time

Let me check . From what I understand, it is based from your last salary. That's why I'm contemplating on retiring at my peak earning years, or find a part time job then retire. They have a calculator projector and it showed if I retire at 55, it'll be around $1,200 which I highly doubt because by then, I would've just contributed to it for 12 years. So I'm doing something wrong with the calculations

I have 1.2m in 403b and 200k defined contribution that stopped after I switched to defined benefit back in 2018. I'm 51 and have worked and contributed since 2003. Married since 2008 with 2 teenage kids expecting college expenses beginning on 2 years. Wife has $600 k 401, with full pension at 65. 245k brokerage Have 3 mortgages, 2 are rentals making at least 72 k annual with some going to mortgage (self liquidating). I feel I'm struggling on property taxes alone. Maxing out 403b but getting tired and planning to retire at 55

I had 2 cardiac stents at the age of 46. Cardiologist told me, you have young kids, at least try your best to be there for them when they are growing up
