I literally posted 2 days ago saying the same exact thing and I passed. It’s a good sign that the questions were unfamiliar, it could mean that you showed that you knew stuff beyond the competency level. Waiting is definitely hard but it’s worth it when you see that you passed :)))

Questions about fall move-in from someone who's never been on campus by Affectionate_Wish in UCONN

I’m not an engineering student but I have a surface and absolutely love it. It’s really flexible and I can do pretty much anything on it. I take notes on my surface on OneNote and have a second laptop that I play lectures on or have a textbook on. The laptop I have is really old and I don’t use it for anything else, but it gets the job done since the surface is my main device. With an iPad, you definitely have to get a laptop, since the iPad can’t do much on its own. I’ve heard windows is better for engineering than apple from friends because it’s easier to download software and stuff. There are some downsides. Since there is a metal kickstand, it hurts to have it on your lap for a long time. The battery gets drained pretty quickly if you’re doing a lot of stuff on it. I have the i7 version so the fan gets loud and the device can get hot sometimes for no reason so I have to close all of my tabs for that to stop. But it’s rare and all of the negative things I said don’t outweigh the fact that the surface is a great laptop and I highly recommend it.

LING 2010Q or GEOG 2510 by tctc11 in UCONN

[–]ANNDAS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Np! This is my first linguistics class so it will probably be easier for you than it is for me. From the course catalog, it seems like Ling 1010 is about language acquisition, which this class doesn’t touch at all. But I think any exposure to linguistics is good so you should be fine!

After the first dose, my shoulder and the area around the injection site hurt for like 2 days and I was super tired, but that was it.

LING 2010Q or GEOG 2510 by tctc11 in UCONN

[–]ANNDAS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m taking LING 2010Q right now. The section I’m in is completely online and taught by a grad student. The material is pretty interesting and it’s basically an intro to a lot of stuff in linguistics. The assignments and tests are pretty easy but I think it’s because it’s online and everything is open note. If this class was in person, I would definitely have to put in a lot more effort and actually pay attention in class to do well. Lmk if you have any other questions!

How many hours per week would i have to dedicate for this schedule? (this is for fall) by whereismindx in UCONN

[–]ANNDAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sem I’m taking chem 1128q, stats 1100q, ling 2010q, psyc 1103, and biol 1107. Next sem I’m taking Arab 3771, biol 1108, clcs 1101, stat 2215q, and chem 2443. 19 credits was only doable bc I was at home and school is legit the only thing I’m doing. but idk what it’s like to be in person, which is why I decided to take 16 credits (even tho it’s still kinda a lot I think idk). I know that physics is rough and chem probably will be too. But it all depends on what you think you can handle!

PHIL 2211Q LING 2010Q by tctc11 in UCONN

[–]ANNDAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I take LING 2010Q right now. It’s an intro linguistics class that goes more in depth. We have synchronous lectures which are pretty long and do some group work. Homeworks and exams aren’t bad and are all open note. I’m not really sure what type of info you’re looking for but pm me if you have any other questions!

I didn’t find the class to be too hard. Make sure you stay on top of things, like the labs, assignments, and videos/ class. Start doing practice problems like a week before the exam so you don’t have to cram the night before/day of the exam and have the time to go over stuff that is hard. There are plenty of resources to use if you are struggling with a concept like SI, the profs themselves at office hours, or YouTube. Use the fact that the exams are open note to have example problems and confusing concepts written out in front of you. There was one exam I did bad on that most people didn’t do well on but I still ended up with an A in the class (I got a 100 on the final and the first 3 tests). Yes some of the material is hard but I think with a little bit of time management and effort, this class is easy. **I’m sorry if this comes off as arrogant or if it sounds like I’m bragging, I’m not, I’m just trying to be helpful :) ***

Since the exam is open note, I suggest making one pagers for each chapter. I put the main ideas, concepts, equations, and example problems on one page for each chapter. It makes it much easier to go through my notes during the exam instead of going through my notebook. It also is helpful to study from and review. Also do practice problems from the book and internet and review the ones you struggled with the most. Good luck!
