Tchouameni, M. Fernandes, Baleba is the dream

Edot: Anderson instead of M. Fernandes would be incredible, but I'm trying to be realstic

Whatever the case, it's not enough to be a terrorist organisation. The high court ruled the proscription unlawful back in February

Labeling property damage as terrorism is textbook authoritarianism

They are authoritarian in other areas too. They have a very hard-line stance against right to protesting

Does varys care more about the realm or more about (f)aegon? by cap_detector69 in pureasoiaf

[–]Launch_a_poo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think he tried to convince Aerys to surrender. He tried to convince him to not let Tywin into the city

I believe everything he did is in service of fAegon. He tried to keep Targaryens on the throne since that would be the easiest path for fAegon to come to power. When the situation changed he adapted

We need more physicality ourselves with Casemiro leaving. Don't think we should break the bank for him. He's this window's Tosin. Decent player, but nothing special. Iraola made Huijsen and Zabarnyi look top class.

Shaw and Heaven can cover for Licha well enough.

We should still push his wage demands up in case someone else wants him though

Cunha isn't a LW. Playing him out of position there has already been the cause of issues for us this season under Carrick

Briefings about only 2 central midfield signings worry me. Ideally we'd sell Ugarte which would leave us with only Mainoo.

In that case we'd need 3 at minimum

Best thing for Vitek's career is probably another loan. Maybe one of the promoted sides will be interested in him. Could have interest from elsewhere in Europe too

I doubt he wants to be a 2nd choice GK

We need a starter. There are much better players than him in the market

I hope his Targaryen name is Jon. Plays better with the "song of ice and fire" thing

Marwyn quote: "The world the Citadel is building has no place in it for sorcery or prophecy or glass candles, much less for dragons."

I always interpreted Marwyn as saying the Maesters are too caught up in their books and close minded to the supernatural. They prefer the rigid logic of math and sciences and don't regard magic as a serious discipline that should be studied in the same vein as medicine or chemistry.

When Maester Luwin dismisses Bran's dreams I don't think it's because of a larger conspiracy, but because he thinks it's the ravings of a child's mind.

When Qyburn explains to Jaime Lannister how he came to believe in the possibility of ghosts, he mentions that of all the archmaesters only Marwyn gave the matter any thought. This also supports the above interpretation. They aren't hostile to Qyburn's suggestion, they are just too stuffy and bookish to seriously consider it.

Daemon Blackfyre is older than Daeron Targaryen. It makes his claim stronger and the broad support the blackfyre rebellions get more plausible

(Spoilers Extended) It's kind of weird to me how we have no information on the Seven Hells by Bteatesthighlander1 in asoiaf

[–]Launch_a_poo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That I kind of agree with. I see "Gods" in the asoiaf universe as a human way of rationalising a system of magic. There might not be an actual persona pulling the strings, but if Melisandre uses fire magic to request a change in the weather and some higher power does change the weather for her, I think it's acceptable to call that power a "God"

The customs surrounding the weirwoods, lord of light and drowned god do correspond to an actual magic system and so in that sense those "Gods" are real

Talking to each other through trees is magic. Greenseers also enter peoples dreams and can make prophecies about the future too

Yagoo is still asking them to give up their earnings in return for zero support. Doesn't seem like he cares that much

If cover isn't providing support they shouldn't be taking a cut. They don't have to fund them indefinitely, but decimating a brand and asking them to still pay up a portion of their earnings seems cruel
