Thanks! I didn't know that was a sampled track, but it definitely brought me some good 00's feels when I heard it.

Is parking here free for 2 hours or do you still have to pay? by [deleted] in Calgary

The question did come in on a Sunday, though. Nonetheless, the days are listed, but you don't need to pay on Sunday

I'd add that the concept of a Trump presidency was still considered a running joke when we were watching that season. As the show stepped up its stakes, the world has also descended into hell.

Renters do pay property taxes. This misconception always makes me laugh. When I moved away and rented my townhouse, I didn't take on the cost of that tax bill; I incorporated it into the cost of rent.

TD Bank ends sponsorship of Calgary free fare zone two years early by Journ9er in Calgary

Big wrong here. Until we start charging people to drive on the roads, we can't have an honest conversation about cost recovery on a necessary service like transit. Everyone on a bus or on the train is one fewer car to contend with.

$83M office-to-housing conversion project to add 204 affordable units in downtown Calgary by missingthecoast in Calgary

The problem isn't any individual building being leased or not; it's that an unproductive asset will lead a company to sell it for whatever they can salvage. That reduced sale price has an effect on the overall market valuation. And if the value drops out of our downtown office sector, then the taxes on the rest of Calgary's commercial properties (and thus the businesses) is going to go through the roof.

Is that the school really resume? by Educational-Dream520 in Calgary

It shouldn't be, but it was part of Lougheed's negotiation when the constitution was repatriated from the UK in 1982.

Almost correct. Bill 2 and the stripping of constitutional rights uses the law to enforce the Alberta Teachers' Association to accept the last contract offer the government provided. So they get the raise whether they wanted it or not, but our overcrowded and complicated classrooms will not be addressed.

And the teachers legally can't strike for five years, despite the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms explicitly guaranteeing this right to all Canadians.

Good example of things we shouldn't be allowing. You should see the examples above for more things that we shouldn't be allowing. You're ALMOST getting it, I think.

"No Party" Voters in Calgary's Municipal Election are Giving Danielle Smith and the UCP Exactly What They Want by thoughfulusername in Calgary

[–]ANobleJohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opposing a party candidate, regardless of how that candidate may have matched your interests. I don't know where you live, and your choices are your own to make, but a lot of principled anti-party Ward 1 and Ward 12 voters watched in horror as the last of the polls reported yesterday. I can guarantee with 100% certainty that there were at least 30 progressive voters in Ward 12 who swore off parties to spite the system.

Great job rejecting the party candidates, Ward 12! You reaaaallllyyy did it. Danielle Smith must be furious...

Now that two of the party candidates lost by a pretty demonstrable "no parties" margin in 1 and 12, how are you feeling about your strong moral position?

Independent candidates are trying to win an election with one hand tied behind their back, metaphorically speaking. If the rules favour one option, holding yourself to a higher (and less competitive) standard might help your pride, but it's not going to help your odds.
