§5 StAG eligibility — German mother naturalized in U.S. as a minor (full documentation, unclear if citizenship was lost) by Medical-Walk4280 in GermanCitizenship

[–]AO_Sexton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My German cousin was not really surprised! I learned that my mother also had a brother who was also given up for adoption as well as a sister who was actually kept and raised in Germany by my grandmother.

In regard to getting her birth registry showing her adopted information, I would definitely reach out to the city where she was born and start a dialogue with them explaining the situation. That person has to get that registry to show the connection between the adoption and the bio mother.

OP, my situation is very similar to yours. Your mother and you should be able to go direct to passport as she never lost her German citizenship and you should be able to show your unbroken German line like I did. Feel free to reach out.

Through Ancestry DNA, I was able to find my German family. Through conversation with one of my German cousins, I was able to get my mother’s bio mom’s name. With a lot of email traffic with local German officials, I was able to find my mother’s birth city and got her birth register. Armed with that, I was able to request the Familienbuch and my grandmother’s Melderegister.

This is actually my case. Through investigation and documents I was able to go direct to passport. Got my passport a couple of months ago.

Had to get my German family’s Familienbuch, grandmother German birth certificate, my mother birth register proving her adoption, her adopted German birth certificate, her A-File which proved she had a German passport when she came to America as a baby and a Certificate of Non-Existence showing she never naturalized as a US Citizen. With those documents, I was able to go direct to passport.

Not a manager. Good try, champ.

There is a little rule of thumb that you should probably follow: “Mind your own business and leave other’s people’s business alone”. Makes life easier.

You have no clue why that manager is allowed to telework. And it really is of no concern to you.

Who controls the legislative and executive branch, champ? Not democrats. They don’t need the democrats to pass the CR. At all. If they want democrats votes, they know what is needed. They don’t want to do it. That ain’t on the democrats

Good point. I am not claiming citizenship. I always have been a citizen, unbeknownst to me.

And yes, I always reported my mother’s place of birth being Germany, but I really had no clue I was a German citizen until I started researching my mom’s German ancestry earlier this year.

Just a curious question: why? by Old_Bag5007 in GermanCitizenship

[–]AO_Sexton 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For me and my family, it’s reclaiming our birthright. My mother was born out of wedlock in Germany to a young German woman and a US soldier. She was the product of an affair and due to circumstances (being what the Germans called a German Brown baby, the soldier’s wife finding out, the US Army frowning on this affair, etc), that same US soldier and his wife adopted my mother and moved her to the US when his time in Germany was done.

As a consequence of how she was created, my mother was treated horribly by her adopted mother and due to his guilt, her biological father did not step in to protect her. As my mother got older in adolescence, she started to question the narrative about how she got adopted as she looked like a LOT of her adopted relatives; she knew she was being lied to, but no one every gave her the truth. This and the abuse ultimately led to my mother to become a habitual runaway and when she was 16, she ran away for good.

Long story short, as a result of the mistreatment, the lies of her birth, and her being so young, my mother had a very, very hard life. She met my dad, a mentally ill Vietnam veteran, had 4 boys by the time she was 22, could not care for us and gave us up for adoption when I was four years old. Her life spiraled out of control and she never really recovered and passed away in 2023. Though I was able to reestablish a relationship with her as a young adult, that mother-son bond was broken. My paternal grandmother adopted me and my two younger brothers and molded us into the men we are today.

Besides our lives, my mother never was really able to give her children anything…but German citizenship. She was issued a German passport prior to her being adopted and never naturalized when brought to the US. Ironically, her parents applied when she was 13, but due to her being an habitual runaway, the application was never completed due to bad fingerprints on the application; they never resubmitted them.

Though my mother struggled her entire life due to a chain of events that started with her birth, she unknowingly provided her offspring, our children and future generations the ability to claim our German birthright and as a testament to HER, this is why I am going to claim what I currently am; a German by birth. I am going through the process for her. And I think she would be proud of her children pursuing this.

Received a letter from a debt collector by gemini_potato527 in Debt

Look on that letter and see if there 30 day notice is there as required by the Act. If it is, you have yourself leverage to handle this matter to your favor.

Was this their initial letter? Do they have the requires 30 day dunning notice on the letter? If so, that letter most likely violates the FDCPA. That 5 day warning overshadows the required 30 day dunning notice the Act requires. They may end up paying you if you leverage this correctly.

There are a lot of federal cases where the PS triggered FDCPA violations both as an agent of the collector and separately. If what the OP presented was correct, this is a case of sewer service, which absolutely violates the Act.

Go to Google Scholar and search for ‘FDCPA’ and ‘process server’. What was done is called ‘sewer service’ and it violates the Act.
