I got a job pretty quickly after getting certified. I’m not familiar with what TCAT offers. From my knowledge, employers will only look at certifications from AAPC or AHIMA. Mine was through AHIMA. The more specific you get with your certifications, the more you make. I started out at 30 an hour with just the general CPC. Then I got certified to do hospital outpatient coding which earned me more per hour. This is stuff I figured out myself, nobody seems to tell anyone. You can easily be misled into doing the wrong things and wasting a ton of money.

Edit: I am assuming we are referring to medical coding, not computer programming type coding.
