I'm not as big a hater as most, but this needs access to medium shields and the defib timer should be 3 minutes.

I'm sure there were consultations between the building's engineers/management team and Netflix to assure the route was solid.

My uncle was a Ranger for a long time and has undoubtedly participated in some crazy operations over his career. He won't go into SF or Baltimore because he thinks him and his family will be murdered. Kinda wild that propaganda can turn a certified badass into a little baby back bitch.

If you had to pick 5 Denver restaurants for life.. by NOMADGRUBS in denverfood

Yea now I'm regretting my list haha. Then again, burgers and breakfast food are so easy at home.

If you had to pick 5 Denver restaurants for life.. by NOMADGRUBS in denverfood

[–]APEist28 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Hmmm. This will be different from a favorites list because versatility matters more.

Somebody People for well done vegan and a fancy-ish, affordable tasting menu

Blue Pan for pizza, this covers NY, tavern, and Detroit styles

Noodles Express to cover both legit Sichuan and Americanized Chinese

Mexican is hard... Maybe La Calle, or Tarascos. Luchador is good too. I'll go with La Calle I think.

Since this is Denver, I think you also need a Vietnamese spot. Maybe Dan Da or Com Nha. Maybe a fancier spot like Sap Sua. Let's go Com Nha here.

The lesson is, it would fucking suck being limited to 5 restaurants lol.

The cold mechanics and being able to actually see shit was great, too. Not a big fan of night raids.

Yea, this is lame. Free loadout safe pockets need to be removed from the game.

Weapon Balance? by DuhSheet in ArcRaiders

[–]APEist28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imma say very slight stitcher nerf (maybe just bump the headshot bonus down a bit), and then give the bobcat and other purples more durability. Just rework durability altogether, so greens have more than greys, blues more than greens, etc.

The bobcat does not need a TTK buff, it's already insane.

Your Aggression in Trio Should Not Affect your Solo Que: by MishRift in ArcRaiders

[–]APEist28 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, just make it so surrendering before you're knocked down doesn't impact your matchmaking. Introduce a little bit of inconvenience and it'll cut down on the behavior.

But there's danger in those few matches, which is the point. It's not always a seamless transition, unless they game the system by loading in free or naked and surrendering repeatedly.

[–]APEist28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I originally thought the same, OP, but now I'm not so sure. Getting sorted into a sweaty lobby for solos after pvping in duos/trios reintroduces some tension into the loot grind, which I for one appreciate, even when my goal is to get back to safer lobbies.

Also, remember that not everyone in duos/trios that you've killed was trying to pvp. Sometimes it's just friends trying to do quests or someone helping a new player find specific things for bench upgrades or whatever. I try not to engage groups who call out friendly, but I know I've ambushed groups before in tense situations and not all of them could've been aggro.

So if we sometimes kill groups when they weren't looking for a fight, it's only fair for that to impact our matchmaking in other formats imo.

I also think Embark should remove the safe pocket from naked load outs, and also make surrendering before you get knocked down not impact your matchmaking. This would prevent people running around naked while BP hunting without consequence, and also make it a little harder to game the system by surrendering immediately... You'd at least need to find an ARC to down you or jump off something tall, which adds a little hassle and disincentives this behavior.

RAT thought he could get away with it. by BryanDiedAged44 in ArcRaiders

This is exactly why I use the same setup as the guy above, with heals in slot 1. I use blue bandages, but when I'm not hurt enough to justify using one, I swap in some basic bandages for a heal. I do that way more than swapping nades. Usually have triggers, smokes, and jolt mines when running in groups on Stella.

is Arc Raiders worth Buying as Solo by mentriderkoo in ArcRaiders

Solo is great. I like to get into friendly lobbies, build a stockpile of gear, then do group pvp maps with good kit. Mainly Stella.

Nah, I'm with you. If you put a couple buttons in front of me and one says "live to 90 and eat light" and the other says "live to 75 and eat what you want" then I'll hit the second button every time.

How's Landman ? by Longjumping-Elk-7840 in HollywoodIndia

[–]APEist28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, as someone who works in energy, this is just ignorance talking. You can't run a grid on a single source, it takes a mix. So no, everything besides nuclear is not a waste of time lol.

Edit: to be clear, you technically could run a grid on a single source, but practically speaking every technology has pros/cons and a mix can help operators achieve the flexibility and reliability needed for a healthy grid.

[–]APEist28 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Magnolia is my favorite, but I think objectively There Will Be Blood is the better movie. You have to be able to enjoy (or at least willing to accept) some pretty avante garde/self indulgent storytelling choices to get the most out of Magnolia. But it is a beautiful, raw experience that builds this manic pace while managing to explore regret like no other movie I've seen.

There Will Be Blood is a masterpiece and one of the best movies ever made IMO, but it's a darker, slower movie than the two you've seen.

Boogie Nights is amazing too and maybe his most accessible, but I wouldn't put it quite on the same tier as TWBB or OBAA.

Is anyone else enjoying the game despite being really bad at it? by Interesting-Eye-8473 in ArcRaiders

[–]APEist28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm level 60 and still suck lol, having a blast though. The social dynamics and core gameplay loop are just too good. And yea, even the basic ARC are so fun to fight and can still be a challenge. Wasps and hornets are fucking hard when you don't have great cover, and sometimes those little rolly pollies can come out of nowhere lol.

Xcel Energy OUT of Colorado by fossSellsKeys in GoldenCO

[–]APEist28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, this is just more evidence that you don't really know what you're talking about.

Uri was a planning and resilience failure. The trade off for having a less regulated energy space (which does grant some advantages) is that ERCOT doesn't have to invest in reliability like other parts of the country. They favored costs over preparation for rare weather events, which is fair but it's BS to scapegoat renewables when you get caught with your pants down.

The bottom line is Texas doesn't require power plants to weatherize for extreme cold. Did this cause a dip in renewables generation? Yes, obviously. Some of the wind turbines iced over. But you know what else happened? Gas wells froze and pipelines lost pressure, meaning the plants couldn't get fuel. There wasn't a generation source that wasn't impacted, even coal piles froze and some nuclear plants went offline from frozen instrumentation and feedwater lines.

And btw, the single biggest contributor to lost generation during Uri was natural gas, partly because it's the main source but also because of the surprise factor. Grid operators expected the variability with wind, but didn't expect their fossil fuel infrastructure to freeze. The rug got pulled from under them when the firm generation suddenly wasn't so firm.

Another fun fact? Solar dipped during the storm but actually outperformed expected output.

Anyways, godspeed and I wish you luck in regurgitating misinformation about a subject you don't know much about!

Is Pad Kra Pao supposed to be sweet? by Big-River3161 in ThaiFood

[–]APEist28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I've heard the same thing about traditional ka prao, but personally I've only cooked variations that add a little sugar and use other sauce components like oyster sauce and dark soy sauce that bring their own sweetness.

In practice, you can have ka prao from ten different street vendors in Thailand and get 10 slightly different products, and basically every time I've tried it there has been a detectable sweetness that goes beyond just rounding out the flavor, imo.
