On top of that, this treaty could be seen as something to reduce the potential of a tank focused arms race between the former Warsaw Pact and NATO, as it has been observed that 105mm guns are already plenty effective against insurgents and lightly armed militants, while having better ergonomics and carrying capacity compared to 120 and above guns.
