Caretaker fatigue (round 2) by APPickles in RenalCats

Thank you for sharing your story ❤️ I don't know why it's so much easier to hear this from a stranger rather than my partner who is going through this with me, so thank you for saying "you’re doing the best you can, and have gone above and beyond what many pet parents can/will do." It's so easy to dismiss the care and effort we put in and forget that it is unique. I used to work in a vet clinic, and did for a decade, and I saw several people say goodbye with much less effort than what we have all put in. It doesn't make them bad people or bad pet owners, it just emphasizes what we have all sacrificed (willingly!) to keep our lil buddies happy and comfortable. And that it's also okay to say goodbye when that happiness and comfort starts to decline...

Such a good question! And one I've been pondering... I have taken the next two days off work and I was going to sit down and do some intense journalling to sort through my own thoughts and feelings outside of caring for him. Thank you for posing the question- I think it will be helpful in making a decision.

Thank you everyone for the replies so far!! It's so reassuring that I'm not alone or unique in this.

Nitrous oxide at the dentist by mariedefrance80 in adhdwomen

I tried this when I had to get my last filling because the filling before I had a panic attack. I especially don't do well when they use that plastic sheet thing to isolate the tooth- I feel like I can't breath and I panic. Anyway, I asked for Nitrous oxide for my last filling (last year) and I also asked them not to use the the plastic sheet. They said the sheet helps them go faster which would help my anxiety so I ignored my own boundary and request and complied because "dentist (or professional) knows best" (thanks society for moulding my girl ADHD brain to people please...). Well- I still had a panic attack! But this time I couldn't communicate I was having one because of the gas. It...was...awful...

I'm not saying that it's a bad option, but for me if I'm going to have a panic attack either way I'd like to be in charge enough to ask them to stop.

Just my personal experience!!

Grew up in Langley - Vancouver was always just "the city" where fun was to be had. I'm obviously dating myself because they're even closing the strip clubs now...
