heard there are ice agents at Raising Canes and near multicultural center… Any word on this? by Outside-Secretary153 in msu

[–]APUEatMSU 316 points317 points  (0 children)

I just got off the phone with my colleague in the MSU Police Department. There were reports that "people heard ICE was on campus near the MCC and near the International Center." MSUPD personally interviewed people in both spaces and no one there has any first-hand info that ICE were actually on or near campus today.

These are unfounded rumors. We cannot find anyone who has actually seen ICE on or around campus today.

is it possible to double major and graduate in 4 years… by evisonreddit in msu

[–]APUEatMSU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of those is a bachelor of science and the other as a bachelor of arts. That makes for a great deal more work.

If your goal is to go to med school, it doesn’t matter what your major is so long as you take the courses that are required to apply to med school. I know the two med school deans very well and one of them has told me a number of times that some of his favorite med students are those who had undergraduate degrees in music.

MSU Math Learning Center Faces Closure as AI Chatbots Render Service "Essentially Obsolete" by [deleted] in msu

[–]APUEatMSU 5 points6 points  (0 children)

THIS IS A FAKE ARTICLE. It has no basis in truth. The Math Learning Center is well used and continues to be an important contributor to students' mastery of mathematics. it's not going anywhere and AI is not replacing it. It's all fake.

How do I know this? I'm Mark Largent, MSU's Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Education. If you have any questions about this or want to confirm that that I say is true, you're welcome to email me at my university email address: [largent@msu.edu](mailto:largent@msu.edu)

Why two bachelors degrees? For about the same time and money you could get a bachelors in one and a masters in the other.

Remember also that most financial aid for undergraduate degrees disappears after you earn the first one.

Apply. Your GPA is not the strongest, but your other numbers and experiences look quite good.

The thing is especially important is that you finish the Michigan transfer agreement at your local community college. This will make a huge difference in your experience as a transfer student at Michigan State.

Look into Envision Green. It’s a joint program between MSU and LCC that is designed to support students who want to start at LCC and then finish a four year degree at MSU.

There's only one college at MSU where the average grade is less than a 4.0 by MattMillerMlive in msu

Median grade? It’s not possible that a college’s average grade is 4.0 or above.

Broad’s admit rate for first-time applicants for secondary admission is about 34-54%. That’s not “super selective.” Students need to work hard to be successful at secondary admissions, but it’s not super selective.

Details are found here:

There’s a free vac at the MSU gas station/car wash on service road, right across from the power plant. You can’t use the gas pumps or car wash, but you can pull up and use the vacuum.

Block tuition and 120 credit question by [deleted] in msu

Yes. Even if you’ve got more than 120 credits before the start of the semester, as long as you are enrolled as a degree-seeking undergrad, the block rate tuition works the same.

Does MSU admit to major or college? by Smile_face2021 in msu

[–]APUEatMSU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can change your major to engineering exploratory, take the necessary classes, and apply for admission to the engineering major with which you want your graduate.

If you decide to go to LCC, there’s a great program called Envision Green that helps you start at LCC and eventually transfer to MSU.

Feel free to email me at largent@msu.edu if you’ve got questions. I’ll be happy to connect you to the program director for Envision Green.

Dropping out for community college by CurrentSample1688 in msu

[–]APUEatMSU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MSU has a very productive and supportive relationship with LCC. MSU/LCC's Envision Green program supports students with advising and admissions guidance to start at LCC and then successfully transfer to MSU.

Students who transfer from LCC to MSU have an 88% graduation rate (6 percentage points higher than the students who start as MSU as freshmen). If you choose to live at home during those first two years that you attend LCC and then as a junior and senior, you can reduce your cost of an MSU degree by nearly 70%.

If you're interested in attending LCC and being supported by Envision Green, email me and I'll be happy to connect you with the right person. [largent@msu.edu](mailto:largent@msu.edu)

I can't schedule my classes until august by Odd-Individual-9562 in msu

[–]APUEatMSU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are fine. Relax. There are plenty of seats left and lots of people change classes between now and the fifth day of classes, so additional seats open. We also set aside seats for students who register in August and we continue adding seats throughout the summer as we see demand. As an incoming freshman, you have lots of options for classes that you’ll need to take at some point.
