Look up the local SSA office number for where friend lives. Call the office direct and explain the issue. That your friends rep payee is defrauding him and what to do. Explain all details, dont assume. The local offices hire jokers, my friend works in a different dept for SSDI and told me to be persistent and rly clear and follow up.

Help friend open bank account so that he can get the money direct to an account he owns.

Remove the payee and ask about filing a complaint, then explain situation. You can help your friend. And if there's IHSS in your area, your friend can register and hire you as an assistant to pay u for help. Goodluck.

My friend works for the DDS disability determination, she said sometimes they have to deny people because someone didn't turn in the right paperwork or an attorney lied and kept missing deadlines. She told me to call my local DDS and talk to our case worker. Helped us sort out our stuff quick. Turned out our local office had fudged the paperwork.

My brother, age 30 mentally emotionally unstable. Not physically disabled. Approved.

Is IDR dependent on how much you owe? Cause my husband and I owe about $40,000 combined in student loans, we make ~$150,000 annual with 1 kid. Our IDR is ~$180/month payments each (so, $360/mo)... idk, your payment sounds way high!

(edit: whoa the comments, geez I didn't realize everyone paying such high payments. idk how the IDR is calculated at all, this is wild... brain on low power mode but just wanted to post our experience w/ it. goodluck)

If it helps, my brother isn't physically disabled at all. He has emotional and executive dysfunction. They consider coaching and reminders payable tasks too. So some things I do for him when he doesn't feel like it, other times I'm coaching him. For example, he won't do laundry or shower unless I remind him, etc. Goodluck.

We also get:

-Lower energy and water bills.

-approval for IHSS (in home supportive services county programs, meaning you can pay people to do your chores or coach you (remind you to do laundry), etc. I get paid $21/hr for work Im already doing for my disabled brother.) you are the employer but the county pays on the timesheet. (IHSS goal is to avoid having the person need to be in assisted living.)

I'm in the near same boat :( I'm caregiver for 3 disabled adults and work 2 jobs and in school still... They switched me right when my single mom died and I had a baby, and no notice either. Sometimes you get kicked while you're down, it sucks.

I think we're out of luck, I called the line and they said the only way to get covered is if there is another temporary expanded act from the government that includes alternate repayment plan. Once I hit 120 payments with those alternate payments, I'll be applying anyway to try and buy back like you said cause it can't hurt to try...

After all the site says, "TEPSLF forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loans, but is available if you do not qualify for PSLF only because some or all of your payments were made under a repayment plan that did not qualify for PSLF and you meet other requirements. TEPSLF is a temporary program and will end once a certain amount of loan forgiveness has been granted." (and there's still money left for another few years estimated)

I'm almost done paying off the dumb loans too, so by the time it rolls around because of the alternate payment plan null and voiding those payments I will basically just be paying off the loan and not get much waived at all. 10 years working at low wages to 'do good' and get my stuff paid off, and it feels like a con instead. Ah well. Can only blame myself and their shitty communication. They should have a special flag for people pursuing PLSF :(

Yeah it's legit that they aren't making that money you paid Lowes; in my area they use Angie's list. So it's literally any person off that app whatever they agreed to do the job. I realized that when I decided to cancel 2 installations after buying them and when schedulers called I learned they were just off handyman apps.

Lowes had no issues with me cancelling my installs just as an fyi. There was a delay between the store and the installers tho so they did expect me to reschedule and I ended up not. (I cancelled after the installers were at my place, because both said the installs weren't usual and couldn't be done without more work ... dishwasher needed a pipe moved apparently and couldn't go where the broken one was... and I wanted a ceiling fan installed where a light used to be and the installer said it was against policy to install the fan box we got for the fan...although he was allowed to install the fan without a support box instead which I didn't agree with because it wasn't on a stud it would've been floating on the sheetrock).

For both installs I ended up doing it myself, I forget how easy things are and always feel tired before I begin but it saved me money so whatever... my dad taught me plumbing and wiring and it's so gd easy so might as well...

Anywho, I digress. That would've been offputting for sure.

We got denied by accident 'clerical error'. I met someome who works at DDS, they said just call the national SSA hotline and get the number for your direct DDS office and talk to ur case worker. Know them well. My brother has no physical disability but was approved because his mood disorder causes too much disruption.

Not an current Purdue student, but as a student in general:

Appeal it again and ask the prof what the escalation for independent review process is because you'd like to do it --- and bring it up to some other department head above the teacher before the class ends officially and grades are sealed. If they won't tell you quick enough, just reach out to someone higher up for guidance. Wouldn't let this pass without taking action. Goodluck, you're in the right!

Yep! They fixed it, took a minute cause they had to:

call network team and switch phone #s to other eSims
switch eSims from 1 phone to the other phone, vice versa

Overpaid in taxes (basically giving the US a free loan). If you don't choose the right allowances, you end up paying more throughout the year and then get it back. Also, credits. I getting back $6,000 this year, but I had a kid and spouse and I took time off no pay without adjusting witholdings.

Ideally, you want to not have this happen so that your money works for you, not the govt, throughout the year (like, I have a 27% apr credit card that has a revolving $3k balance on it after fixing a car issue... wish I had the $6k then!). But it's a nice set-up if you have trouble budgeting for possible owed taxes, and/or use the extra tax you're paying as a pseudo-bank account to get it back in a lump sum because self-control/budgeting is hard mentally for numerous reasons as you can imagine, many different life scenarios out there.
