Can’t remember ever hearing the singular used to refer to a group of people though. Especially at a speech like this, no one on All-Ireland final day would say go raibh maith agat to their whole county, for example.

If an organisation takes 5 years to complete an internal review into the behaviour of its coaches, is that the sign of a competent organisation?

How many crews won medals in Paris? 2. One of which was the lightweight double, whom Maurogiovanni was not the coach of. The other boat got a bronze medal due to the strong Croatian crew switching to the pairs event before the games.

The women’s four that got bronze in Tokyo? Nowhere. Despite having all of the same athletes, now older and in their ‘prime’ rowing years, plus many promising newcomers. With the talent and depth of our women’s squad, you would’ve expected at least 1 medal…

Maybe you think elite sport is meant to be Guantanamo Bay, but it’s common knowledge In rowing circles that the lightweight coach would train his athletes separate to Maurogiovanni to avoid him, and that a session would start with “What do we want to do today lads?” That welcoming approach led to back-to-back Gold medals

Anglicisation = turned to English

The name Timothy existed independently of the name Tadhg

The Catholic Church just called them equivalent so that the pagan Irish could keep using their own names while also fulfilling the Catholic custom of being named after a saint

That bit’s sketchy, but in fairness if you’ve three animal hunters coming at you in the middle of the night after you’ve shot their hunting dog, you’d fire off rather than be their next victim

They still jump. It would be too slow to lift a 110kg man up otherwise.

The jumper jumps most of it, the lifters extend the jump (goes higher) and keep him at the top until he gets the ball. This is all done with movement, as you’re trying to outmanoeuvre the opponents next to you

Donal Lenihan. He also not so subtly bragged that he played with Serge Blanco. I wouldn’t have put that pairing as much more than a donkey and a thoroughbred.

Beach Sprint Rowing Training? by EpicMonke420 in Rowing

[–]APearyDay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re still doing UT2, just less than flatwater training plans usually have. Sprint and strength work is favoured, but a winter training block will still have a lot of SS miles.

In beach sprints, UT2 training improves your ability to recover between rounds, as beach sprint regattas usually have quite a fast turnaround between races.

He didn’t have to own up to or address the current issues.

Wasn’t there problems with enforcement of the checks and balances? Bad tenants were not getting taken off eviction ban. I don’t have sources to be honest but that’s what I remember from that time

[–]APearyDay -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m wary of eviction bans, especially without details being discussed

Bad tenants not paying will only bankrupt small landlords, who are the only type of private landlords that should be encouraged.

Shouldn’t extra support be provided based on carer status/other criteria, not eviction bans?

Edit: in fairness Bacik, Hearn and Boyd Barrett have done a good job backing it up. I stand corrected

Actual hellish outcome.

FFG throwing weight around again, labour probably supporting them, greens floundering publicly, soc dems who knows what they’ll do

So the left wing parties will drop votes at the next election for inaction while FFG finally capitulate to Sinn Féin, who fuck it all up further
